Running

I just started running before workouts like I used to do a long time ago. My goals are to lose body fat and gain some lean muscle. I've been working out seriously for about 6 months now and have been running afterwards. Now for about a month I'm finally leaning up and seeing some good results from running before. Just wondering how many of you run before and how many of you run after.

I used to, but found it interfered with my goals of building muscle. Not only that, it began to play havoc with my joints.

I gues it's a matter of goals. I don't put weight on easily, so the last thing i want to do is burn what i have worked hard to build.

But like anything, if it works for you and you enjoy it, more power to you.

Oh, just be careful you don't burn muscle if you run after working out. You are better off keeping your running and weights on separate days. If you do run after your workout, make sure you take in some carbs immediately after working out to replenish your glycogen, otherwise you run the risk of going catabolic.

yes... but my goal for right now is losing fat, and it seems to be working for me right now. I have gone down in wheight, but have kept my muscle size and mass. I just do a lot more reps than before.

BeachBombHottie is my g/f. and I'll tell you that I've been training her the past 3 monthes and she's been gaining muscle but i couldn't ever get her leaner. I couldn't understand it. I looked at her diet and it is good and she trains hard. And i always have her run 20min afterwards. And it just seemed like she kept getting more bulkier. And she kept telling me that she knows her body and she should run before. So i finally gave in and said ok do it if you want but it won't work. Cause as science would have it that you burn more fat when your glycogen levels are low or depleted after a workout or in the morning before you eat. but i'll tell you want i've sen more improvment in the past couple wks then i've seen out of her in the past 3 monthes. Running before she is getting cut and she's look ahh AWSOME. And she's kept her muslce mass also. Her body seems to build muslce easy. So even with her running before she's still keeping her muscle and leaning up like she wants.

I agree.

If your goal is to lose fat, then yes, any form of cardio first thing in the morning will be more beneficial in terms of burning fat.

I do always warn people about doing any cardio after a weights session. Glycogen is low and unless you ingest carbs prior to engaging in cardio, right after a weights workout, you run the risk of catabolism.
