I have been dealing with insomnia since I was a child. Also have had a hard time dropping b/f. Its dropping but it takes a lot more work than some and I sometimes just feel sluggish. I decided I was going to get a full hormone panel done along with cortisol and thyroid.
Well, it came back that I am borderline hypothyroid. And I produce to much Testosterone. Scary.
I see a Naturopath and he is putting me on Naturthroid, corticut, another med for evening out the test and progesterone, and wants me to inject b12 at least 3-4 times a week or even daily if I want.
Just curious....has anyone here been diagnosed as hypothyroid or have higher amounts of test?
I have used a little aas in the past as well as cynomel (but the right way) and this scares me that this happened. BUt I havent used these chemicals for many years. Like 5 years.

I think more people than you would think are borderline hypothyroid. The tests have gotten much better so that those who test on the edges can be taken more seriously.
I could say I've "had insomnia since childhood" as well -- always been a nite owl and very little problem staying up all nite. These days I can't sleep when I have stuff bothering me. Otherwise I sleep like a log.

I guess try what this guy is recommending. I've never actually been treated for hypothyroid so I couldnt' tell you an experiences.

I was Dx Hypo about a year ago. I was put on Synthroid, very low dose, that didn't make a dent in my levels. So they doubled the dose, still a low dose though, and that has made a world of difference.

Before getting my levels stabilized, I would have BAD insomnia - mostly nighttime waking and unable to get back to sleep. Extreme nighttime anxiety - I couldn't shut my mind off AT ALL. DUring the day it was okay, but nighttime was horrible. To the point where I had mini-panic attacks about things while laying in bed.

I also have trouble losing BF, but the thyroid med has NOT made a difference in that. I just have a type of body/genetics that LIKE to hold onto muscle AND fat - no matter what. SO I can't blame my fatness on that, lmao. :)

Since getting my levels stabilized, I sleep MUCH better and have little anxiety issues. Now that I am PG, they will likely have to increase my dose every trimester. I actually got my levels done Monday and should have the results today. I think they need to increase my dose, because I started having trouble sleeping a couple weeks ago. BUT, that *could* be due to PG hormones too. We'll see.

Good luck, let me know if you have any other questions. I have never taken the supps you are talking about, nor have I ever had my test levels checked. SO I can't help you there. :(

Oh, and I do NOT think AAS had anything to do with your thyroid levels. You yourself stated that you have had this problem for years. MAYBE they can cause a perm change in test, but I find that unlikely with minor use. Unless you went heavy, you likely do not have residual effects 5 years later. But I could be wrong.

I would also say that I've had trouble losign bodyfat despite years of intense, consistent heavy lifting. The diet + cardio are what brought me down 3x to around 8% bf for competition. So I guess I'm say I would hesitate to blame all of your weight issues on slightly hypothyroid and expect thyroid meds to fix it all. Just a thought.

Which is basically what I said in my post was my experience - I am actually hypo and medicated. I also have trouble losing BF, but cannot blame it on my thyroid. Getting my levels stabilized has made NO difference in weight/fat. ESPECIALLY being slightly hypo. Unless your TSH level was in the 20-30s, then thyroid is likely NOT the reason for holding onto BF.

Hey I was just diagnosed with something similar from my lab results. My body produced to much testosterone, not sleeping, anxiety, borderline hypothyroidism... They said I have Ovarian Polycystic Syndrome. My face was breaking out bad, and I was constantly on edge. The doctor put me on a birth control pill called Yasmin. It pretty much stabalizes your hormones every week. Unlike some BC's that alter hormones up and down. Just a idea maybe you may want to look into. This pill is for people with this condition.

I was diagnosed hypothyroid about 1 1/2 years ago, I've run the gamut w/diff. doc's and tryed Armour, Synthroid and Cytome(T3). Its hard to find a doc. who will prescribe Cytomel , most go w/Synthroid.Iwas n 100 mcg. but dose was too high,I was having insomnia, anxiety but since its been lowered to 88 mcg. I'm doing alot better. Thru all of this my BF has come down, only 2-5 lbs. of weight loss. I agree the BF loss was thru clean diet/weights/cardio.

I think being older and carb sensitive can makeit harder to lose weight, not sure if its due to hypothyroid or not. I have to work my ass off and stick to a very clean diet to lose BF. but its possible. you might need a sm. dose of Synthroid just to kick up your metabolism, but the meds. aren't going to matter w/out diet/training.

Thanks ladies for all of your input and experiences. I b ust my ass hard at the gym with a three day split twice a week (rest day in between) and cardio 6 days a week. I also eat very clean. Keepiing a journal that I take to my nutriotionist. I was 23.7 b/f to start out with. I did some really hectic dieting and major workouts and got down to 16.5 but then I slacked off for a while cause I needed a break and went up to 19 %. So I was trippin and went to see my neighbor who is a nutritonist/trainer. Have been losing .5 % b/f a week so Im back down to 17 %. Its just that I think I work so hard and should be losing more. She has me doing a diet that consist of high fats that are good fats like nuts, lean protein, plain yogurt, low fat ricotta, tons of veggies, sprouted bread ,ect. The crazy thing is since I have started with her I have gained 7 pounds over the course of about 3-4 weeks. But the b/f dropped 2 percent. She was like omg, you werent kidding when you said you gain muscle fast. And I do. Maybe cause of the excess testosterone and some water gain as well.
Now to shred up I am doing a little starchy carbs in the a.m. like 1/2 c. oats and throughout the days veggies and lean protein for 1 week then back to healthy for the next week and then I repeat.
I dont expect the natuthroid to cure the weight problem but hope it helps some. Cause I really do work very hard and am constantly educating myself to be able to do even better.
