I saw your contest pics and want to first congratulate you on your great condition, you looked very dry and hard. I wanted to ask you about your last week leading up to the show. I have tried to deplete/load thing several times in the past with mixed results, and was wondering how you approached this process.

How long did you deplete/load carbs?
How did you manage your water?
What about sodium/ potassium?
How late did you cut out water?
What did you eat on the day of the show?


As I said, anyone feel free to contribute, I'd like as much info as possible. i had simply directed the question to Needsize due to his awesome condition a couple of weeks ago.
 
Thanks, this is the way it went, but my trainer had me over cautious on carbs, so next time it will be heavier, with some fat loading on the friday.

Sun, Mon, Tues were carb depleting days, 50 grams per day, and I trained on all 3 days. Wed I started to increase the carbs somewhat, thurs upped them again, friday bumped them to around 200 grams(all from potatoes). Next time I will start with heavier carbs on the wed and thurs

For 2 weeks prior, i cut out all obvious sodium, ie sauces and stuff, but there is still some just in regular food.
On the thurs, cut my water to about 3 litres, and took 50mg of diazide before bed. 50mg again when I woke on friday. I took in around 1.5 litres on friday, and another diazide friday evening.

Sat morning got up early and had potatoes 2x before leaving the house. Starting an 1-2 hours before prejuding got a ton of simple sugars from a can of apple pie filling.

I came in lean and dry, but flatter than I wanted. next time will do more carbs, and add some fats friday and sat. My trainer didnt want me taking in too many carbs in case it spilled over and i went soft, but if youre running diuretics and barely drinking any water, I dont see how that could happen
 
Yeah, 200 g seems a little low. I got my best results soing something similar. I did 75g Sun, Mon, Tues. Then 300g Wed, 450g Fri and 500 Fri. By Fri, I had cut my water to 16 oz, stopping all water @ 4 PM.

no problem, your appoach is a little closer to what I plan for the next one
 
I'll keep ya'll posted on how things go in the coming 3 1/2 weeks.

Needsize, your post-contest binge/water retention story has also convinced me to take it easy during the days after the show and EASE my way into real food.
