Question about mushrooms, the hallucinagentic type

Is it true that the mushrooms growing in cow and horse crap are the ones that are hallucinagenic? I'm not interested in doing them, just wondering.
 
It is true. Some friends of mine used to actually go looking for the shit at farms nearby.
 
Some species of halucenogenic mushrooms, especially P. Cubensis, flourish in animal dung (but can grow elsewhere).

HOWEVER, not all mushrooms growing in shit are halucenogenic, and some may be quite poisonous.
 
halucenogenic mushrooms are available OVER THE COUNTER here in Amsterdam. They come in saran wrap sealed, styrofoam meat packaging. (picture ground beef, but a mushroom instead of meat)

I've still not tried them though, yet.
 
It's not just cow shit. My friends girlfriend had a horse in the backyard. Wouldn't you know they went out of town one summer. While my friend was feeding the horse, he noticed shrooms growing in this very long thick grass. Some were in shit, some were not. Verified that they had the purple ring and had one helluva summer.

When I was younger (about 15) we would pick magic mushrooms every year.... they do like cow shit.. I think we picked Fly Agaric...

I have seen other magic mushroom varities for sale over the counter in Amsterdam..
 
I enjoyed it.

I believe LSD and similar hallucinogen compounds like Psilocybin (the main hallucinogen in fly agaric mushrooms) act on serotonin pathways mostly....

got things mixed up there buddy... psilocybin is the active hallucinogenic compound in P. cubensis (normal shrooms)... fly agaric mushrooms are what most people call toadstools, deep red or yellow mushrooms with white spots, they act on a totally different neurotransmitter system (muscarinic ACh receptors) and therefore have a hugely different effect... these babies can be pretty bad for you if you take too many (however it's basically impossible to overdose on P. cubensis shrooms).

anyway.. a pretty standard method of identifying shrooms out in the field is to see if they stain blue when you bruise em. this is not a 100% accurate method tho, as there are some psychedelic species that do not bruise blue, and there are some poisonous ones that do. get a mushroom identification guide from your public library to make sure you don't end up on the ICU needing a liver transplant from picking the wrong mushrooms.
 
Yes they often grow in cow shit or horse shit. The catch is that it must be a grain fed animal. As stated above they must bruise blue/purple. One word of advice if you go picking though...watch for ants! This summer me and some friends went picking and it was still a little dark outside, and we were picking some of the mushrooms out up a patty when we realized that it was covered in ants. Man that was not worth it. I'm glad my friend sustained most of the bites!
 
If anybody gets the idea to go picking mushrooms, be careful. Like CollegeKid2 said, some poisonous species bruse blue. Many posionous species have veils and rings of different colors.

The only way to be safe is a fairly in depth check of multiple characteristics leading to a specific species identification.


In addition, P. Cubensis (with which I am most familiar) will grow well in bovine dung regardless of the animals having fed on hay, pasture, or grain.

They don't sound very fun though.

try to find P Cubensis or Cyan. (can't remember full name at the moment) also liberty caps will do the trick, if you aren't sure what it is, dont swallow it.
 
actually I think it was liberty caps I did.. I think I saw the fly agarics in Holland... isn't it fly agarics that created Alice's help create her wonderland adventure? Liberty cap's definately like cow pats..

I only did them once.. they were a lot of fun...

Yep, Fly Agaric / Amanita Muscaria are the infamous "Alice in Wonderland" shrooms. Usually red or orange with white spots. Grows mostly in Siberia, South Africa, and the Pacific Northwest (especially in Washington). They usually grow under pine trees.

You only find them in cow fields around here. You really need to know what your picking because we also have a very toxic shroom around here that will stain blue. Looks nothing like magic shrooms but if you don't know the difference bad things will happen to you.
 
i think it is something all should try at least once...there is a business farm where i live, like it is open to the public, and they have to pick the shrooms and give them to the local police department...makes me wana be a cop...:D
 
Thanks to Beefy bulls link I was able to positivelt identify the type of magic mushroom that is growing in my horse manure compost pile. It isPanaelus Subbalteatus. My mushrooms are very nice specimins, but there is no way in hell I would ever ingest any of these.

Cool shit about identifying it, but I'm really disappointed that you wouldnt live a little and sample some of the goodness. Pick em, dry em a bit, and eat them. Make sure you're relaxed and in a good mind state and you will love the high. Have you ever tried anything else?

wash them, dry them (just let them sit in a well-aired area for a few days) then grind them up to a fine powder. weigh out 3.5 grams and enjoy the next 6hours =). (tea is nasty, dont bother. also, its best done on an empty stomach, when you have nothing to worry about for a whole day. social interactions are way weird on em, so try to find a place where you'll be by yourself. nature is really cool to trip out on.. bring some music for your journey)

Do you really think an 8th would be good for his first time with a hallucinogen?
 
At my last school, we would go to local farms and pick them at night. After it rains or has been humid a few days they sprout up on cow shit. It's easy to identify the local variety bc they have a yellow top with a big black band. The other gray ones are the death caps, leave those alone. It's a much better trip than acid by far. Much smoother and it's not edgy at all. We would clean them off and eat with ranch dressing.

Acid or shrooms being more enjoyable for you has more to do with you than the drugs. Different people are affected by things differently.
 
Shrooms are definitely an awesome experience. You get the some of the visuals like you were trippin on acid but you're a lot more chill compared to being jacked when trippin on acid. We went in the woods one night before they kicked in. We sat there and smoked and smoked and smoked until we couldn't remember how bowls we packed. At this moment we looked up to find the entire sky was pink. That precluded one of THE best experiences I have ever had on any drug
 
Wait, let me get this... I am in PA, so I go to my local cow farm and give the guy $50 to let me walk through his field and not ask why. I pick the below with the yellow top and if I get the wrong one I basically wind up in the morgue?

Crank!?!? A few of my buddies were slobs (bikers) and major crank heads... Their teeth were chewed up by crank.

I'll stick to weed and shrooms. Oh yea, nice bricks of hash too. Been so long :(

Last time was 1990 before I got into NYPD. Since I got out it just never crossed my path. No such thing as hydroponic in my day (spelling)

First time I did mushrooms I just smoked a dime of kick ass tie stick. Then I bought a slice of pizza and dumped an 1/8th of shrooms in it...

Needless to say I was retarded in about an hour. I remember my organs were falling out and I kept holding my gut to keep them in. My friends ear was all over his face. I guess you have had to be tripping to even understand this talk.

Obviously people can handle an 8th their first time but it also depends on the type of shrooms.
