Query regarding 'Leg Raises' !

Hi all,

I have a query regarding leg raises which is done for lower abs.

Please tell which posture is right.

1.Legs straight & back straight
2.Legs Straight and back in small arch position.
3.Legs slightly bent and back straight.
4.Legs slightly bent and back in a small arch position too.

Please choose ur option.
Also should same option be followed by men and women or not ?

I want experienced ppl to answer this query who has adequate knowledge about this.

Thanks

Your back needs to be as flat as it can. Arching your back could cause injury. This would be the same for men and women. Some people will put their hands under their butt to try to keep the spine more straight.

As far as the legs go, I think that's just personal preference. Straight legs while doing leg lifts will work the lower abs better than bent legs. (for me anyway)

Not sure that I'm what you call extremely experienced, but I do incorporate leg raises into my ab exercises. Like SG said, I've found the best way to do these is to put both hands under my butt. It helps to keep your back from arching, which hurts like hell after the first set or two.

Shouldn't have any problems with lower back pain if you go slow and controlled and keep your legs straight.
