PWO Protein Shake - things to add

avocado -
this will provide some essential fats and good cholesterol. It adds a creamy texture and does not taste skunky as you might expect.

Fine-grated carrot -
sweetens the shake and provides beta carotene which gets converted to vitamin A. Vitamin A is necessary for growth and is also a powerful antioxidant, protecting your muscle cells from free radical damage. Also adds a little fiber.

Whole Flax Seeds -
provides fiber and essential fatty acids.

Raw oats -
provides fiber and low GI carbs.

Sounds like good stuff from a nutritional perspective, but shouldn't the post workout shake be stuff thats basically predigested so it can be used by the body ASAP? My PWO shake contains a shitload of whey (quickly digested in comparison to milk protein isolate) simple and complex carbs, creatine and colostrum. It's water thin as well.

I was assuming a base of protein. I like whey powder in milk and sometimes add soymilk.

I assumed you assumed a protein base as well, but I always thought (and I damn well could be wrong) that the post workout drink should not contain EFAs or anything that slows the response of nutrients from the gut to the muscles. Based on that I go for a drink in water with whey, colostrum, creatine etc.
