Hey Guys,

When do you think the best time to take the protein shakes are, considering i am not trying to bulk up massively. I am cutting and using these to try and up my protein intake.

All advise welcome people.

Cheers and peace

One post workout, one more in the afternoon or evening. Other than your post workout shake, it doesn't make much difference.

protein shakes

so if i took one for breakfast to start the metabloism going, is that advisable, coz Whey is very easily broken down, kicking off my metabolism first thing.

What do you think?

that would be a bad idea because when you've been sleeping you are in a catabolic state-therefore you want to EAT as soon as possible when you wake up.

Sometimes I take it in b/w meals, usually no more than 20g of protein. It is true it only stays in the system for 2 hours, and a big shake to me is a waste if it's not post workout. Your muscles do not use that much protein in one sitting. If it's postworkout I take 50g dextrose w/ 50g whey. I think the dextrose in there is essential.

But if you really want to grow you got to stick to solid foods. Only time I really advice a shake is post workout.

But it is not really for massive growth.

I am trying to strip the fat. Is it possible to suppliment instead of some meals?

Sure you can use protein shakes as meal replacement. I do.

You just have to add another kind of protein along with the Whey. Whey absorbs too fast by itself. But whey protein is a great post w/o shake. I suggest adding some egg white protein to your whey protein for a good meal replacement. Throw in some complex carbs then you got a low calorie meal in a bottle....or you can go purchase Myoplex, Metrx or some other MRP.

I make my own MRP but there are some good MRP products.
