Protein Absorbancey rate...

Advocare Doctors state....

Most protein shakes ie: Eas Metrx twinlabs ect... have low absorbancy rates....

A guy called as many supplement companies as he could asking their absorbancy rates and the highest he came up with was 50%.

Advocare claims their protein shake "BodyLean" has a 97% absorbancy rate.

Not sure about all the facts limme know what yall know of this...

You are probably thinking of something called the "biological value". The idea that things can have a higher biological value than 100 is ridiculous and protein manufacturers have been touting this for whey for years. Sure, it is more bioavailable than soy (the 100 standard set by scientists for BV), but it cannot have a BV of more than 100! Thats like saying a batter has an average of 1.010 [such as .298 etc] (1010)! Impossible!

Basically, all of the aminoacids *assuming proper digestion* are absorbed, but what percent are catabolized (in the urea cycle, for example or through gluconeogenesis) can change. That isnt a characteristic of the protein so much as a) the amino acid profile b) what kind of diet you are eating c) how much protein you get per day

NFG

I cannot believe that any manufacture of protien would say that treir product only has a 50% asorbtion rate, similiar to that of card board. Whey is absorbed in the high 90% tile. Do you even know what your talking about, or asking?

i have heard the same thing when some guy was trying to sell me some advocare products. He said most protein mixies were ground up cow hooves and they were crap and stuff like that. Ever since then i havent trusted protein shakes as much but there has to be some truth out there. I mean the pro's drink shakes so i will.

Very sorry I didn't mean to be rude to you, I just get really pissed when various supplement company reps just out and out lie to people that call them for information. If you purhase any of the name brands you are very likely to get a high quality product with good bioavailability. Some of the name brands are over priced though. Currently I'm using muscle milk and switching on and off with met rx amp/60 grams of protien per pack. Once agin sorry, I thought that you were making a statement not asking a question. :)
