Propecia vs Spirolactonone

British Bulldog

New member
Hi guys, I lost a lot of hair over the past 12 moths due to steroid use. Currently I’m using 5% Xandrox twice a day. I’m weighing out whether to use propecia or spirolactonone alongside it. Which one of the two would you use? I’ve read about spirolactonone working as effectively as propecia in inhibiting hair loss. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks for helping.

I am using the 5% sprio cream from minoxidil.com.

I remember reading somewhere that Dr. Lee, the guy who makes your Xandrox, feels that while spiro is more effective "on paper" the real world results are nearly the same with oral proscar and topical spiro. So, I chose the none systemic option.

I use both but would wager that topical spirolactonone is better because, well, it's topical. Proscar/propecia/finasteride helps with scalp and prostate, so good on one hand, but I think it's also bad for libido in some patients. It has helped me keep my hair thick, anyway.

Bulldog,
I've been using propecia and nioxin for over a year now and at the start of my last cycle I added spiro to the mix. Adding the spiro helped but there are days where I still feel like I'm losing the shit and other days where I think I'm not losing any. If you can afford both I say go with that.
BTW generics has reasonably priced spiro.

propecia stops the formation of dht in the body which makes the odds of getting prostate cancer from AAS use much less likely

propecia can and will affect your sex drive. that 2% figure they list in the warnings is bogus. 2% become completely impotent, but a much higher percent notice some effects.

When i first started taking it, i went limp. all libido gone. After about 6 months it came back. No problems since then. So, if you start out reacting poorly, it can get better.

as far as topical spiro goes, i am 2 weeks in now, and i see no difference.
