powdered sugar

I can't imagine why anyone would - powdered sugar is just white table sugar ground to a fine powdered consistency. You'd be better off with dextrose.
 
nevermind white sugar is about a 60 on the gi scale. time to get some dextrose. Anyone have a good source for cheap dextrose?

last semester in organic chem II one chapter was over sugars and my prof specifically said that powdered sugar was dextrose. thats why i was asking
 
You should not use Sugar, use dextrose. sugar takes longer to aborb than dextrose as it is made up of 2 glucose molecules bonded together, this means that the Sucrose (sugar) molecule needs to be split before it is used aslo suugar is made from differently oriented glucose molecules that aren't very good for you.

If sugar was a new product on the market today it wouldn't get FDA approval thats how shitty it is.

Powdered sugar is just pulvarized table sugar with some cornstarch added in. What he/she may have been referring to is that dextrose is a form of glucose produced from corn starch. So it's not the powdered sugar itself that does the trick, it's the cornstarch...and by that rationale, you could just eat corn starch out of the box. However, the functional utility of dextrose is rapid absorption post workout. By taking in corn starch (which will provide comparitively les dextrose), you are giving your body extra steps to go trhough before it can get to the dextrose. You will speed things up, and get substantially more dextrose, if you just use dextrose.
