Postworkout carbs on a keto? Yay or nay?

I've seen a lot of conflicting advice about havking postworkout carbs on a keto...

So what's your personal experience?

If I were on a keto diet to lose weight, than no. If I were just on a low carb diet and could eat some carbs post work out and not go over my daily total than yes.

Well I'm just gonna start my keto diet next sunday so I don't have any experience with it, but wouldn't eating carbs PW bring you out of ketosis, rendering the diet useless????????

depends on the level of carbs you eat. I know that I can stay in ketosis up to around 50 carbs a day on days I lift. If I were focusing on losing body fat I would not do it. I prefer to carb up one day a week and keep carbs under 30 the rest of the time.

well if your not gona take in post workout carbs then you better have a carb meal 4th and 7th day of the week...at least a cup of oatmeal, a fruit, and yam...i need to experiment to see which works better,,, in theory not having a carb meal after working out will allow fat burning to keep on going..but i am not convinced whether or not this makes a huge enough difference...beverly international has their bb's keep carbs out of pw for fat loss...if you dont have any carbs you will have no muscle glycogen= bad thing

It is really something you have to mess with to figure out what works best for you. I have found that my body is real efficient at burning fat, I really could probably wait 10-12 days between carb ups and not feel any difference in the gym. But I choose to keep it at 7 days to make sure I recharge . Plus, I take in large amounts of protein and some of that is converted to glucose anyway. But, at this point I am not on a true *keto* diet. I am trying to stay at a very low level of ketosis and just mess with calorie totals to get the results I want.
If post workout carbs are keep below or right at a level where they just refill muscle glycogen then I would think fat burning would not be stopped. The problem is finding that point. I was not able to do it, carbing up once a week worked much better for me.

Good luck holding on to muscle not eating any carbs at all around training times. Shit, your body's just gonna convert the protein you take in after training to glucose anyway, so why waste the protein that should be going to the muscles? You need carbs either before, during or after training even while on a keto diet.

In a fat adapted state, eating a surplus of calories, and loading carbs once a week MY body does not choose muscle over fat. I have just had too much experience with it over the past two years personally, have seen too many studies , and too many strength atheletes are now following this type of diet for that to be true.

Fact: The body's preferred energy source is carbs. Fact: during training, a person expends a large amount of energy and depletes glycogen stores. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree, cuz I think it's absurd to deprive oneself of muscle sparing glycogenaround training times.
