post workout shake on a isocal diet (on dieting days)

Im going to be working out on a refeed day, so i will be consuming high gi carbs as is, but on my other two workout days im gong to be getting low GI carbs. I saw some reccomendations on pars site about what a pw shake should look like when dieting, i belive 40g whey, and 50-60g carbs. Is this true when on an isocal diet? Im assuming that at this time it is also okay for me to have dextrose/malto (typical PW meal)? Also, is it okay to have most of the carbs targeted around the workout, this wont make every meal come close to isocaloric though (but i belive lyle said this was OK on mfw). I mean pre, post, and an hour later, those meals could possibly take up all of my carbs for the day, is this how it should be done? Or should i try and keep all meals isocaloric on training days?
 
Duchaine's version of the isocaloric diet is to eat that way at each meal. However there are other advocaters of the diet that say the end of the day totals is what matters. Each meal in itself can deviate from the isocaloric make-up so long as the end of the day totals hit the mark.

For simplicity just take in more carbs in your post workout shake and no fat. Then to even it out eat one meal that is protein and fat only with no carbs. I'd say the final meal of the day would suffice but it's up to you. Since 2 of your meals will be devoid of one macronutrient just make up the loss with another meal. You get double the carbs postworkout so you get none on another meal to even it out. Since you can't have fat postworkout then you get more at another meal. Pretty simple.

I wouldn't suggest eating isocalorically after a workout though. That's a good amount of fat that is going to blunt insulin reponse and mess up the whole glycogen replacement aspect of the meal.

Actually Duchaine recommended a protein shake with grape juice and as little fat as possible. Cuts has done us the favor of scanning the book on this forum. It is on page 36 of the Isolcaloric Handbook.

Duchaine's recommended shake had 53 g or protein, 53 g of carbs and 3 grams of fat. I personally would subtract these from your daily totals and try to keep the other five meals' nutrient ratios as identical as possible.

You're right, I was just focusing on the normal meals. In general Duchaine wanted you to eat isocalorically at each meal while others only recommend that daily totals are isocaloric. That means you can have a lot of carbs at breakfast so long as you offset it with less carbs throughout the rest of the day. Or if you didn't get enough protein at lunch you could add more later on.

I dont really think it matters what dan says, he didn't even know about leptin when he wrote his book, and it is old. has anyone seen anything from par as far as exactly how to manipulate this shake? Unless i hear otherwise from par, i will do as you said and just change my ratios in other meals so i can get that big insulin spike pw. Maybe ill use nlarge, it would probably be wise to get a great deal of carbs in my 2hr after workout meal too, no?
