Hitler also had high public approval at times... And for many of the same agendas: Gun control, public welfare, affordable housing and medical care, environmentally-friendly efficient highways and public transportation, etc. Hitler took over Porsche and told them to make the Volkswagen, and Obama took over GM and told them to make hybrids and sell them cheap. Hitler had "mother" issues, and Obama has "father" issues.
The last of the Holocaust survivors are now too few and too withdrawn to speak out, and the mainstream public does not have a concept of pre-Holocaust German socialism to understand the frightening patterns.

I'm not sure I can tell exactly what you are getting at, but blaming Chicago's problems on Obama is ridiculous, and as far being a big welfare state, 16 of the top 20 tax sucking welfare states are red states.
In the list, $1.00 means federal taxes paid equals federal taxes received. Anything over a dollar means the amount of net federal funds they receive over what they paid.
