Please critique the girlfriend's diet.

She's 23, 5'2", and weighs 120 lbs. She's relatively lean, except for the midsection, where it seems like she's genetically predisposed to retain/gain fat.

She'd like to be 105 lbs.

From Monday-Friday, she has:

-first meal: an egg white / cheese omelette (bought at work)
-second meal: hard-boiled egg
-third meal: hard-boiled egg
-last meal: a "balanced" dinner (fist-sized serving of lean protein, vegetable, starch).
-lots of water
-glass of cranberry juice (to prevent UTIs)
-cup of coffee

Her diet on the weekend varies.

As for her activity level, she's on the treadmill (for at least two miles of jogging) for about thirty minutes. She lifts 3x a week at home, where she has one of those all-in-one machines, and a set of dumbbells.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

i think a really low carb diet w/ a good diet supplement will do it.if her bf goes down her abs should come rite throught / excersize

Thanks, robph. Her diet seems to be pretty low-carb, as is, no? Just the little from the cheese in the morning, and the carbs in the evening (her mom will give her weird looks if she doesn't eat the home cooking).

She's currently taking one capsule of T-Rex a day. What else do you suggest?

Thanks, PinkPanther. Do you recommend 6-8 meals a day to keep up her metabolism? She cares little about muscle catabolism, and she takes T-Rex and coffee to help with the metabolism. If she were to add more meals, would the caloric count go up unacceptably?

Also, bump for Mr. X's input.

Yes, eating more often will keep the metabolism up. If she is going to be working out, she will need the extra calories anyways. Also, she should try to keep her carb intake in the morning and eat protein and fats at night.

where is the fiber?

not good!
try adding:
oatmeal
beans
broccoli
chicken
salmon
tuna
eggs (u have)

should be getting around 1400 calories per day for your BMR. it looks like you are getting about 800. you need to up that. also try and buy cranberry extract caps from GNC or a pharmacy. get rid of those fructose carbs from the juice drink

i would say not that many......its a girl trying to cut weight. based on her bmr of 1400 cals 8 meals would be about 135 cals per meal. hardly filling enough.

Thanks PinkPanther - I wholly agree that any carbs ingested should be done as early in the day as possible. However, she still lives at home, and doesn't want to deal with her mom's questioning about any "unorthodox" diets.

Thanks OXANDRIN. Do chicken, salmon, and tuna have any fiber in them? For her "balanced" dinner she usually has some sort of fibrous vegetable, along with a bowl of white rice or some other starch carb. I'll tell her to look into the cranberry extract caps.

no those meats i mentioned don't have fiber. but she needs to get at least 35 grams a day. it helps keep insulin levels down and it will make her feel fuller longer. look into psyllium husks (powered) for fiber
