Piazza and Griffey Inducted into Hall of Fame

Whether you're a baseball fan or not, you probably remember the baseball steroid era in the mid-2000s. Mega-stars like Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens were forced to defend themselves in front of Congress as they were grilled with questions about steroids. It feels like this happened ages ago, but every year we're reminded about steroids in baseball when the Hall of Fame voting comes up.

2016 was no different, given that several prominent steroid-using baseball players were on the ballot. Interestingly enough, one player who's been frequently accused of steroids actually made it into the Hall of Fame.

What are your thoughts on MLB and steroid usage? Do you think players like Clemens and Bonds should be allowed into the Hall of Fame?

Absolutely they should be allowed into the Hall. As a former baseball player (not professional level) I know that it takes a lot more than extra testosterone to accomplish what some of these guys did. Bonds was MVP 7 times out of a 22 year career! That's incredible. Bonds was a great player when he was a skinny guy that could jit for power and still be able to steal bases. The league commissioner's office knew what was going on but having McGuire chase Sosa generated massive revenue for the league. If the team owners and the league were concerned about "cheating" they would have taken action way back in the late 80's.

Nope. Not only did it "enhance" their performance, it's prolonged their careers, concurrently. Nothing was a bigger joke when "all of a sudden" 50 HRS a season wasn't shit and 3 guys chasing Maris' single season record. Brady fuckin Anderson. Here is a prime example: Never hit more than 21 HR in a season. And when he did, once, it took SEVEN HUNDRED AND FORTY NINE plate appearances. Then, in 1996, he hits 50. A center fielder. In 1999, FORTY FIVE players hit 30 or more HR. In 2015 the number was 20. The worse part was the excuses why it was happening. The balls were being purchased from different countries. Players were "training" differently. Androstenedione. I'm a die hard. I knew all these players and a lot of them were just pantloads. And then they're hitting more bombs than a perrenial all star like Miggy hits now. I don't think JR juiced. And not sure about Piazza, either. Someone felt for him, maybe his closeness with Lasorda helped. All I know is if Pete Rose can't come, neither should any of those other guys....

Griffey's swing was so perfect that he didn't need anything to enhance his performance. He wasn't very big either (by modern standards). I stood right next to him once during his prime and I had more muscle mass than him (that was when I was natty). Griffey was my generation's Willie Mays.

Sure it helped that his dad was Ken Griffey Sr. and he spent most of his youth in the ballpark. Much like Prince Fielder. Didn't help Billy Ripken, though.

Billy Ripken will always be remembered for holding a bat with "Fuck Face" written on it on his 1989 Fleer baseball card.

Tony Phillips hit a ball in the upper deck in right field just a tad off of dead center. It's was 440ft. at old Tiger Stadium. We kinda figured he was juicing after that one. And when Pudge Rodriguez went bonkers and was in the home run derby at the All Star game and then the next season shows up 25lbs. lighter. He wanted to "streamline" his physique, the broadcasters said, for baserunning purposes. And a few years ago, Matt Kemp and Omar Infant mysteriously went on the DL with phantom injuries and we're out for over a MONTH, this, imo, due to the round of random testing and where A ROD was popped. Someone tipped them off and they spent that month drying out....pretty sure it was ARod, I know several players got popped that year.

I ran into a baseball guy who played minor's and he said that everyone he played with used sustanon and dbol regularly. the dude was a toothpick, so if guys like that are using steroids and don't even look like they lift and don't amount to shit, then what is the problem with guys who are genetic freaks who excel at their sport using them like bonds? I got no issue with it, just don't be stupid and get caught
