Physique photography advice needed

Ladies, I need advice on hiring a photographer and how the business relationship should work.

I have a photographer I am extremely comfortable with and am thrilled to work with. We will be capturing physique shots in an artful way, workout shots, promo shots, and doing a rough and tough video! I have a few questions for anyone that has experience:

1. What is the typical protocol for payment? Is it by hour or a set package? I'm curious as to what the industry norm is.

2. Is there any legal issues I need to be aware of for the use of my photos?

3. Of course any day of the shoot advice would be great too ;-)

You guys are the best!

I'm sure others will chime in.
1- Most photographers charge by the amount of rolls used, or they may charge for a day or 1/2 a day. NEVER per hour.

2- If you're paying for the shots, DO NOT allow him to use the pictures, in which case he will ask you to sign a release for. If you don't want him to use the, don't sign. Make sure he gives you all negatives.

3-Best to use an overcast day. Lots of sun will make you wash out and you can say goodbye to your cuts, LOL!

P.S. Make sure to hire a make-up artist for the real shoot. It will make a world of difference. I've been modeling since I was 16 and I'm an expert at putting make-up, but would never do it for a shoot. It's a different animal..

Good luck with it!

Word. Many of those jackasses will try that move on you. Remember if you are paying for the pictures, then they are your pictures. And don't buy that "reduced rate" offer crap either. You'll also find many who say they're not charging you their "standard rate" so you have no right to the pics and they can use them if they wish. Bullshite.
