Ok, this girl I know said she was approached by some lady at the gym when she was doing flat BB bench. Apparently this lady told her that:

Flat bench makes your chest wider and your boobs smaller, and that you should do flyes and cable crossovers.

and that if you want your boobs to lie "perkier" the flye thing is better--she said it works on your clevage line.

Now I was highly skeptical of this advice, I told her to not lose a core lift like bench to some weaker isolatory movements. Also, saying that bench will make your boobs smaller implies that you can spot reduce fat which is not true.

Do any of these comments hold any truth?

thanks ladies

I have to agree w/ you - "boobs" are basically fat. I know one girl who competed in her first BB show a few years ago & during that time, she went from a D to an A cup. THat's fat loss. I guess you can argue that certain exercises will build up or focus on certain muscles but that's a pec you are talking about, not a boob. Its addressing what the breast is sitting on top of. So you might create the ILLUSION of a larger / perkier / smaller / lower / whatever breast, but the only thing that will actually happen to the breast itself is the amount of fat that makes it up.

I am also rather skeptical about focusing on a single particular exercise to make a significant change like that. It is definitely the core strength moves that you would want to focus on & not sacrifice in order to get bigger or smaller boobs. And let's face it, the diet is also what will affect what is actually visible - i.e., a significant change in calorie intake will affect the amount of fat in the breast (bigger / smaller) and also the % bf will also determine how much of the muscles underneath will be visible or affect how the body will appear.

Thanks for the reply Sassy

I honestly do not know where some people get their information from. When the argument is broken down it just doesnt make sense.

And I agree that bf% and diet will play the biggest role in the size of the breasts (dont really know from personal experience though, haha).

You're so asking for trouble....

I bet you dont have a cool pair of booty shorts that sport ASU on them....and then if you did you wouldnt happen to have a picture of you wearing them that you could put into your avatar....yep didnt think so.

Of course that's total nonsense, although an exercise like full dips (elbows wide) with a reverse shrug at the top is hardly an inferior exercise, but it builds nice muscular cleavage. By muscular cleavage I mean it looks cool when you flex but otherwise doesn't add anything to you relaxed boobage. I'm at an age where my boobs hang below my pecs anyway, so now when I flex my pecs I get double cleavage LOL

:insane:

My question is how 'perky' was that lady's chest? I think pictures are required.

Um... I actually did own some - white w/ a pink "ASU" on the ass. But let's not forget this was oh, about 1985..... I don't think they would've survived that long anyway. Sorry. LOL!

even the girls on EF want to see boob pics :p

Liliston, just having developed pecs would have a small impact on total fat burning. Total muscle mass is more important - imo.
