Palm problems holding lock out position.

I just recently got into Powerlifting (Namely singleply bench) and am up to 545 but the main problem I am having is palm pain from holding the bar. I have lifted for over 25 years but have always used gloves. Now that I am powerlifting the gloves are of no use and it seems my palms are quite tender when holding the bar. Is there any secret as to build them up or harden them up to where the weight of the bar and plates doesnt pinch the nerves in my palms? Or is this just one of those things wehere time will take care of it.

I would have to say time will take care of this. Maybe want to adjust how you hold the bar but i cant say that for sure without seeing how you bench.

Try backing off on the weight for a little. When i first got to 500 the pressure was tough to deal with but in time i learned to tolerate it. Take a couple bench sessions and reduce weight and work on techniquie also get some good wrist wraps and squeeze the bar as hard as you can.
