I believe this is why I am WIDE awake and have been since like 4:15 (am)....I don't know what to do...and my first instinct is to go to the gym since I'm so WIRED.

Oh man do I hate that feeling ;)

Out of curiousity, do you take any stimulant based supps throughout the day that may have be the culprit? esp. taking anything after 2 or 3 pm?

Yes...and maybe...could be the stimulants. Usually it doesn't effect me like that though. (I definietly did enough running around yesterday to put my little but right to sleep)

I say overtraining b/c I have had the past week off (job shift), and chose to shake things up for my body a bit by doing double cardio plus alternate dasy weight training.
It has happened to me in the past before as well...when dieting too hard hand-in-hand with working out very intensely.

Overtraining takes more than a week to happen. Overtraining happens over months.

Maybe the change in workouts caused soem sleep disorder, but I wouldn't call it overtraining. It is likely due to a schedule change, workout timing change.

Overtraining will most likely show itself as exhaustion and not being wired. Not being able to sleep can be a problem but the exhaustion should be there.

what she said.

Try surfing, reading or watching bad tv.

I go through bouts of insomnia and sometimes I'll just get up and take a hot shower.

Also, take a good look at your sleeping habits and what your're eating.

Definately.

Plus, training times - those can interfere with sleep, esp if it is a new time.

Not only WHAT you are eating, but WHEN - if that changed, then sleep patterns can change.

With your week off, you might be sleeping more - sleeping in a little, or couple short naps - which can lead to nighttime sleeplessness.

I've had trouble sleepign on & off over the yrs because I'm such a night owl & I do get really worked up about things when they are bothering me. An aspirin will usually help relax an "agitated brain". Sominex or any of the OTC diphenhydromine HCl's work pretty good for sleepign & aren't addictive. I used to pound Nyquil, benedryl, anythign to fall asleep. But then be useless in the morning. Stuff like melatonin, kava kava, etc. never did much for me except give me weird dreams for 3 hrs & then leave me staring at the ceiling the rest of the night.

You should try some ZMA that stuff is great!!!, you sleep great during the night and wake up refresh!. I dont think is overtraining though at all, you just cant sleep!
