OUch!! Help!! (bendin bars and tearin skin)

Just call me Rosie Palmer:)

Went to work out today ( at a diff. branch of our commericial gym :bawling: ) and there were a few big buys there (body builders / wanna be powerlifters) so I figured I havent pulled for a while and I am gonna start vacation soon and I ate wheeties this morning so what the hell right ??... besides nothing like a little guy to deflate your bbuilder ego at high time in the gym.. (sorry big guys.... pride myself on 165 ' er or so ...someday I may be up there with ya..:p )

so I work up to 475 and go to pull 500 .. came up then slid out of my hand taking a hunk of callus (2) with it.... last P.R was 480 but I have a lot more pull just cant hang on... So I have been blasting the hell out of my grip... it worked .. too well... left blood everywhere... went and got a couple band aids and wrapped the hand and tried again... slipped out again.. so finished with some zerkers.. gotta love it... those guys thought I was crazy

Any first aid suggestions to help me heal faster...?? Been such a long time since I pulled calluses that I cant remember what I did ...They are pretty good holes though ....guess will just have to wrap and adapt..(dont even say where gloves...or you can go bact to your other board:D )

I've done the same thing. Usually from doing farmer's with db's. During the week just put neosporene on it. When you go in to lift put some super glue or that fake skin stuff on it. Just make sure to look at the super glue, some have bad chemicals in them. Good luck and don't wear gloves, you'll just retear it when you stop using them. Your hands will adapt and get stronger and tougher. Try chalk in the wound if it opens up, it stops the bleeding and gives you a little more grip.

This will be very difficult to explain without a picture but if you place the bar on the topmost joint of your fingers and not in your hands so that the skin of your hands that sorta pile up next to the bar does that on your palm's side of the bar and not on your fingers' side (so that you're actually stretching any loose skin out of the fingers and collecting it in your palm), you'll find that the calluses very seldom, if ever, come off. I guess you need kinda big hands to be able to do this, though.

Cytomel .. I said no gloves!! I know just trying to help.. thanks for all the advice.. SUPER GLUE ????? Havent heard that one.. will I be able to let go of the bar.. ?? I can only imagine trying to take a dump with a barbell in my hands:D

Does anyone know the name of that fake skin s--t?

I have heard of derma bond but I think that is like artifical sutures (???) of course that may be what works.. awww hell stapled your a pus!! Adapt, Improvise, Overcome!!
thanks guys... Semper Fi

Not much help to you, but I have a simiar story. Couple of years ago I was pulling...and I split one of the lower layers of skin. There was nothing split open on the outside...but you could see where it was torn on the inside. The skin swole up between my fingers and around to the back of my hand. My hand looked deformed. Went to the Doc...and he had to cut the outer layer of skin off...and wrapped the hell out of it. Said not to lift for 6 weeks.

Needless to say I was in the gym the next day. Bought some of those large house cleaning sponges to soften the pain of holding the bar. CAN'T MISS A WORKOUT!!

When in need to putting a callus back on quickly...super glue works.

Last time i did reverse band deads i ended up tearing a huge callous off my finger. after that i just stuck a bandaid on it and did the rep again, ended up tearing it even more open but at the time i couldn't feel it. After that it took 2 weeks befor i could hold anything really heavy in my hands or it would just tear open again.
