Opinions on a TEEN posing routine

WannaBPowerful

I am going to put togeather my routine in another week for my first bodybuilding compitition. Im 19. Would it look bad if i used fancy poses, like some of the pro's, since im not HUGE? Or should i just stick to the basic? I wanna get a good scoring.

Im nothing impressive, but have a nice build for a teen

im 5'8 187lbs

arms 16 1/2
chest 46
pretty wide shoulders
33 waist
back is best bodypart
quads 26
calves 15 1/2

il have pics up here soon of me before i start cutting.

I was thinkin some poses like a one knee twisting double bi, and side single bi, maybe a half kneeling most muscular with hands on theighs. Does that sound overboard for a teen my size?
All the rest of the poses will be the mandatories. Im definatly throwin in a side serratis pose (dunno if thats what its called)

Pick poses that show off your strengths and hide weaknesses. For example, if you have big fat gut, you shouldn't be doing a Vacume pose (like Frank Zane).

I've been to a couple of shows, and most teenagers go through a very simple, and quick routine. I don't think you need to try anything too fancy for your first show. It ain't the Mr. Olympia.

haha good point. im just lookin for good scoring. Ok... maybe if i name some of my strong points, you could tell me what i should be hitting the most, possibly add a pose or two in that arent the mandatories, just for a little variety.

My back has to be my best bodypart. My biceps look good from the back. Shoulders are pretty wide, chest is good, and abs most people tell me are really good (serratis is nice also). Legs could use some seperation, but size is good. Calves match my body, but nothing special. Biceps from front dont show a lot of peak, triceps are shaped nicely but could use a little more size. Traps are also pretty good. Overall im banking on symmetry shape and conditioning, because im natural but the shows im doin arent. Some teens will probably be on juice and have me in overall size.

Do whatever looks good on you - that's all that matters, whatever poses that flatter your physique

you will need 3rd party feedback or get a video camera/digital camera and try out poses and see what looks good. Having a digital cmaer that has video mpeg capabilitly can be a awesoem for this.

yes, i have competed as a teen and went to numerous shows.

these guys are right, pose what looks good on you..... he belive me there are lot of shots that i think look fantastic, but look like crap when i do them.

unless your huge, forget the kneeling 3/4 back bicep shot, and that most muscular thing. you could use some twisting shots, but do them standing, be creative and daring, but dont do a pose for the pose's sake, do what makes you look good. Even more importanly, do what makes you look good to the judges, not yourself.

oh yeah, and bye the way, in 90% of most divisions they dont even judge the free posing. especially teen, they will probably have the results before you even get there that night.

good luck, and remember, practice, practice.

Dont judge the free posing huh? In that case, if its just for fun and show, couldnt i put something fun togeather that looks good, rather than worry about showing off my strong points?

Well dont mess around up on stage during free posing, but dont spend all your time worrying about it. Just make sure you come in conditioned and lean and that'll get you far in most teen shows. Mass doesnt play a huge role and you dont need to be doing rediculous like handstand split poses to place high. In the modern encyclopedia of bodybuilding they have a whole section on posing, it has illustrations and is pretty imformative. If you dont wanna buy the book go to your local barnes and noble..they have chairs there and you can sit and read through it without having to dish out a lot of cash.

Wannab,

When is your show? How is your diet coming along? What show are you doing? Email for any help bro...I lived and breathed competitive bodybuilding as a teen(I did 8 shows before I was 20), 2 of them were national. My email is [email protected]
