Hi.

I'm definately not looking to become a charles atlas or anything but recently i got hold of two very light dumbells (5kg) .... all I'm looking for is to trim off some fat and get definition.... I know this is a board for hardcore dudes but it looked like the perfect place to get my quesion answered!! Hope you dont mind...

A friend of mine is really into building and kickboxing he gave me the following routine to be repeated 5 or 6 days a week alternating between the six exercises (three a day).... now I've got a big build with a good shoulder span but this just sounds way to intense for me !!!! sheesh maybe he wants me dead!

4 x 100reps = Bicep Curles
4 x 20-25reps = side shoulder raises
4 x 25-30reps = Front shoulder raises
4x 10-15reps = Shoulder Press
4x 20-25reps = donkey kicks
4 x 15-20reps = upright rows

Or maybe Im just a wuss?

Thanks.

If you want to burn some fat and get some definition, I'd throw those weights in the closet, toss on some running shoes and head out for a job or some walking. Then concentrate on eating really clean...

Sounds awsome, but I would suggest you bump those Bicep curls up to 4x500. Its been proven that 2000 reps is by FAR the most effective way to build biceps.
And the side shoulder raises should be bumped a little to around 4x100 and do them as fast as you possibly can. You may start to take flight, but dont worry you won't go to far.

Other than that this looks like a solid routine.

Hate to be negative, but IMO, you will accomplish very little with this routine. Way too high reps, and too low weight. Is there a gym you could go to, perhaps?

Hey... thanks for the feedback guys. the advice is most appreciated.

Going to gym would of course be the best but I already do a routine for keeping relatively fit ( the 5bx plan or Canadian Airforce Exercises = pushups / jumpingjacks / situps / yada yada yada) .... this keeps me in an ok condition so I'm not wanting to spend any time at gym.... just looking for somthing to trim off that little bit of stomach and nicely define my arms / chest etc etc.

Should I laugh off the 5kg dumbells? Is it too little to do anything? The other problem is - I naturally have a big build and i DONT want to bulk up at all, i was told that the best thing to do would be a routine with light weights and very high reps.

Anyway - I really appreciate the help and the fact that you guys are even discussing 5kg weights :)

add atleast another 5 kgs to those dumbbells, your rep range is over the top

i'd lower the rep range to say 10-15 reps for each set.

just keep dead-icated to your lifting and results will come.

See...at my gym...we do not train by reps, but by minutes...we generally throw like 350 on the bench and rep for 3 to 4 minutes, then we can get the feel of the burn and a good pump....we do like 5, 5 minute reps of like 135 for standing barbell curls etc..you see where I am going with this right....

Jeezus... maybe I should clarify... I was JOKING devin. Do not follow anything in my post.

Bullit !

Your joke IS the reason I'm currently writing this post with my toes !!! (now im joking) ... I wouldnt actually know any better but I definately could tell that it was waaaay too much for me even if everybodies granny was doing it.

But my thanks still stands as I've gotten a good idea of what I should go for.

Big up to you all!

Devin.
