how do you tell how many calories are in a sweet potato?

like for instance.. I just bought 6 but they aren't packaged with nutritional info or anything..

for that matter how do you do this with any non-packaged food?

Sweet potato (medium sized)
Total cals 130
Prot 2
fat 0
Carbs 33

When I need nutritional info on something, i usually go to google nad type "nutritional info" and the name of the food, usualyl works. Or go to www.fitday.com

I use fitday.com & weigh the cooked potato then log in the weight by ounces in my daily calorie allottment.

I do that cuz what is medium or large is too subjective ....

One of the others, best ones, and easiest to use is crosstrainer 5 by Innovative Logic. You can download the trial version at www.crosstrainer.ca and then i have program thar will give you a crack so that you will get full access forever. It is agreat program that logs diet, workouts, wellness, many many other factor and you can even make create and calculate recipes cal/nut etc. Breaks down meals/daily info into cals/pro/fat/carbs and percentages/ also micornutrients etc... def worth checking out. Myself and 3 other RDs I know use this on our clients at work while others use programs that can cost over $600.

Got anything for pocket pc?

The USDA link i posted above has a downloadable version for palms. Im not sure if the crosstrainer can be used on pocket PC but if you check out their website it might be able be. It is a very veritile fitness/wellness tool. If you do download it let me know so i can get the crack fo you.

BTW....it can preset the diet for you based on your BF%, what kind of diet you want to follow(protein power, etc...), will set cals, macro levels etc.
