NHE Certification Exam processor

Anyone here process exams or teach fitness classes for NHE? I just picked up my IP manual and it's extremely complex, to say the least. I was wondering if processors are allowed to implement our own techniques or training programs, or do we have to stick to the NHE certification protocols?

Mike

You probably have to stick to their protocols because their fitness nutrition guidlines proably coordinate with their level one pt program. The NASM Nutrition for Professionals is similar I'm pretty sure. I've seen the NHE Instructors Protocol Manual and it's huge. I don't know how you are supposed to memorize it all.

Thanks jen. The manual is huge, you are correct, but in many ways it is similar to the study guide which is very good. The NHE manuals are better than anything I got in college.

Is NASM hiring? I'd love to work for them.

There are only three certifications worth investing you time and energy in: ACSM, NASM and NHE Certification. The others are really for commercial purposes or just to land a job. The bottom line is that the certification is just to get you in the door, after that, it’s up to you to make the most of your career.

California is the worst. There are so many "children" conducting personal training sessions that sometimes I'm embarrassed to tell my friends I'm a trainer.

If you have an ACSM, NHE or a CSCS certification, then that should help. Or if you are an accomplished bodybuilder or fitness competitor. Because most trainers are normal looking people who have an ACE certification. They don't look very inspirational. Some are even soft looking.

Training in a gym is played. You ahve to diversify and do other types of training i.e. corporate or mobile.

I started getting into different businesses that maintain some line of exercise equipment and started marketing my expertise there and it works pretty well.

I recently got hired as a processor by NHE and it’s working out pretty well. I took a couple of exams to be eligible to process different programs and because I did, I am getting about between 20-30 hours a week. It’s a lot of reading and protocol evaluation, but it’s fun. The money is better than anything I’m currently doing… I just hope the economy doesn’t get worst because as it stands, people seem to be leaning toward higher education especially in the fitness and health industries. NHE Certification supposedly has opportunities for clinical exercise instructors but you have to have a masters degree to be considered, but at least you don’t have to take the nhe certification clinical exercise program to get hired.

Did you take the fitness nutrition exam? People say it's a long exam but it stays right along with the study materials. I'm going to take the exam in April.
