new to the board and looking for advice

I'm new to this site and have learned so much just reading other threads. My husband recommended that I check out the women's board, he is always on the men's board and learns a lot.
I was wondering if anyone has advice on how I could lose 20lbs. in six weeks. I just had a baby 2 months ago and need to look and feel better. My stats before the baby were 5'2 and 125lbs. and my body fat was about 25%. My current stats are 5'2 and 140lbs. Current exercise is chasing after my 3 year old and losing lots of sleep with my 2 month old. I'm looking for a good workout routine and diet. I only have six weeks to improve before I will be wearing a coconut bra and grass skirt.

My diet is not so good. My husband is always using the no carb diets which works well for him but it's not for me. Usually my diet consists of: Breakfast - Cereal (mostly whole grain), pancakes, or bacon and eggs. Lunch - Ham or peanut butter and jelly sandwich if I'm home if not it's usually fast food. Dinner - chicken breast with a little rice or pasta and veggies on the side. My biggest problem I'm having right now is cravings for chocolate, this was never a problem in the past but it is killing me now. Like a lot of women, I LOVE CARBS!
I will be returning to work next week and my hours are not compatable with the gyms around here. I do have an elliptical, pool, free weights and a smith machine to work with at home.

Bad news for you is that if the diet don't change neither will you. Get that in order first off!

Add in lean protein sources such as egg whites, lean chicken, turkey and fish, protein powder can help as well. Complex carbs should include oatmeal, whole grains foods like brown rice, sweet potaoes. Tons of veggies and lots of water should help. Add in some flaxseed oil for your good fats. You probabley need to get a little more realistic on your goals, as posted you want to be leaner than before preg. Perhaps try to get in some of these suggs and see where it takes you.

Definetly drop the sugar, it just feeds on itself, once you drop that you'll prolly drop some water wt. Good old fashioned will power can help, but to make it easier on yourself, cook up batches of meat and freeze it, have the veggies on hand, be prepared!

Ham and bacon gotta go or you will be wearing that fat! Likewise the pb sandwiche and fast food. Remember you want to LOSE FAT not eat it. Worst food combo are carbs and fats .

So there you go for diet, see if these ideas help.

Go to the diet board as well - my wife is on CKD and it is working well for her (of course I set it up :D). Lots of good diet guidance there - and that is what you need most.

DrG,

I checked out a website for CKD...very helpful. I'm only on my third day, so far so good.
