Now keep in mind, my body doesn't always work the same way other peoples do. I've tried a lot of the suggested diets, and generally they don't seem to work to well for me.
Let me preface this diet that I do is just low carb, not too low either. But so far I've seen quite a bit of improvement and I stay pretty full. My workouts get stronger, and I feel really good. I can also do this everyday, and it's not hard to prepare at all, which is a HUGE plus for me.
What I do is eat Korean BBQ. Why? It's mostly meat, and it's really tastey.
It only takes about 5-10 minutes to prepare, and that makes a huge difference to me.
Every 3 days I go to our Vietnamese super market here in San Diego, and buy 5lbs of Eye of Round. It's only 2.79lb at the place, and it's totally lean. No fat around the edges at all!
So then I ask them to cut it for Pho, which is a vietnamese soup where the slices of meat are a little thicker than deli slices.
I buy a couple of bottles of Korean BBQ sauce (Bulgogi, I prefer Kalbi, but I haven't been able to find it lately...) and I'm good to go.
Go home, marinate it for about 30 minutes (or just toss the full 5 lbs in a giant tupperware type thing and do the whole thing at once) and you're ready to cook.
Either cook it in a pan or grill it up (grilling is better, but those of you in an appartment like myself may not have access to that). It should take only about 5-10 minutes because it's so thin.
All that's left is cooking up rice. Now I use instant rice, regular white. I know that all of you would probably freak out since it's high GI, but it works for me. I only eat maybe .5 cups per meal, and fill up on the meat. The reason I eat it is because it keeps me pumped, and keeps my veins thick. Since it is high GI, it burns up really quickly because there really isn't much there... In total, I try to keep my rice to 1.5-2 cups a day.
On the typical day I have about 2-3lbs of the meat, and it tastes wonderful. The rice is just enough to keep my brain functioning normally (I have a VERY hard time with no carbs, not pleasant at all.)
All in all, plenty of protein, good amount of carbs, but easily burn off with a workout, and something that I never get tired of eating! Plus you only have to spend 5-10 minutes!
I'm not sure of the breakdown of nutrients, but it's decent. Calories are high enough to keep me going, but low enough to lose the fat while I workout.
This of course is just a suggestion for those of you who maybe tired of what you're currently eating.
Just thought maybe someone would like it as a change.
