How slow should your reps be while working out??? if i do them really slow will this create more solid muscle?? I see this one big guy who does his sets soooooo slow and hes jacked, he does that with every thing, what do u guys thinK???
I would do your reps at a controlled pace , usually that means about 1-2 seconds up and 2 -3 seconds down...by emphasizing the negative you will fell the muscle more and get more muscle building effect per set.
Yeah, always stress the eccentric (negative) portion of the exercise. You can also do olympic lifts and ballistic sets to teach your body to recruit muscle fibers quickly, but that's for another thread...

Olympic Lifts are explosive lifts in which you move the bar as quickly as you can, with good form, to generate power. Power Cleans, Clean And Press, and Snatches are just examples of some Olympic Lifts.
By ballistic sets I mean doing regular exercises very quickly, to get the same basic effect of olympic lifts (i.e., explosive strength). This could mean doing a bench press, and lifting as fast as possible with correct form. I, personally, don't like doing this.
