Need help with hormones for women question

I need some help from some of you brilliant people out there. I am trying to get some opinions for my wife. I had put this on the Elite page and they suggested I try it over here.

First, some history. She is a 31 year old novice BB and carries a fair amout of muscle. She's used AS moderately for years. We have two children and after the second child was born she suffered from a huge bout of post-partum depression. She is now (after three years) still depressed and on meds for it. She is presently taking Effexor. We go to a physcologist three or four times a month. She has all of the symtoms of depression, moodiness, increased fat stores, no sex drive etc., ect.

Her physcologist swears by these natural progesterone replacement therapy creams. The one she uses is called Progeta-Care. It's a transdermal lotion that you apply to your skin. I know most of you guys don't care much for the natural, homeopathic cures, but I am impressed by some of the things that I have been reading on this stuff. The physc. told her that she had a 30 day saliva test done while using this cream and went of of it for four days and they immediately saw a decrease in the levels in the test results and her moods went all to hell.

So, I have two questions:

1. Have any of you heard of this stuff and has it worked for you or someone you know.

2. Here's the BIG question. She is presently on a very light cycle of 50mg Deca every 10 days and clen. If this stuff does increase progeterone levels, how does that interact with the increased testosterone levels in her body?

A couple of points to add that I got hammered on the other board for: The Physchologist is not selling this stuff and has no vested interest in it.

She did not take AS while pregnant and has only used a very moderate amout. In the last 6 years (age of our oldest child) she has done a cylce of Primo (between kid #1 and #2), and since the youngest (now three years old) was born, she has done one cycle of winny and the deca she is on now.

just my opinion...and my background is PT/AT-C.....not an internist, but I would think that excessive progesterone would make her condition worse.

By the way...did they ever check her thyroid too?

I could write a book on this but everyone needs an specific amount of testosterone in your body, including woman. Excessive estrogen levels in men can lead to depressive states the same way a lack of testosterone can for woman.

Do a search on google for Christina Ferrara. She did a great story on this exact topic. She started using hormones to counteract her menopause but the progesterone cream she was using was making her seriously depressed. Her regular doctor told her that testosterone was bad for her, but she decided to finally find a different doctor to help her. The added test not only ended her mennopausal symptoms, it ended her depression.

There is some kind of 2% test topical cream made for this exact problem.

Interesting comments guys. Thank you. She did have her thyroid checked. I would have bet money on it being out of whack but all came in normal. After the tyroid scan is when we starting grasping at hormone straws. Her doctor wants to do a 30 day saliva test for hormone levels, but we had already started the AS cycle so my guess is we should wait. We didn't start the AS as therapy for anything. We started the AS for the same reason everyone else does. To gain muscle.

Anyone else????

I've only used the progesterone cream for swelling. It did help when applied to face and breasts..usually during pms. I usually have to take nolvadex on any as because it makes me produce excess estrogen to counteract the as. I've had a serious battle w/my weight since I lost my job. Doc says its depression. Hell I know how to eat and work out but my weight won't budge. I also took the thyroid test. It was normal. I too thought it would be out of wack and explain the weight gain. Go figure?? Too much as use??

Warlobo>>>> Hold that thought and check back in a day or so. She's not here right now and I don't know where the results are. I am very interested in your interpretation of them though.

Katz>>>> Your condition sounds a lot like hers. She, like you knows how and what to do, but it's just not working for her and she's getting very discouraged and being really down on herself. Maybe (hopefully) we can ferret through all of this and come up with something. Maybe we'll solve all female hormone problems (and therefore save mankind) right here at Elite!

Thanks.

Jeez, are you going to post your crap on every thread about women, noW?This guy asked for help about his wife who is and enjoys being a female bodybuilder. She has several cycles behind her. Do you really think he's looking for this kind of advice? You're just against women taking steroids in general, as a knee-jerk reaction. You don't actually seem to know jack shit about the subject though, and you certainly aren't helping the guy. What a surprise that you have negative karma.

Whose ass was he going to kick? Mine?

I'm confused.

PS: BOT -- there is a difference between "your" and "you're." If you learn some basic grammar you'll have an easier time convincing people to believe whatever nonsense you decide to spew out next.
