*Redick, Williams close home careers against archrival Tar Heels*
-----------------------------------------------------------------
No. 15 North Carolina (20-6) at No. 1 Duke (27-2) 9:00 pm EST
DURHAM, North Carolina (Ticker) - Top-ranked Duke looks to
rebound from an unlikely loss when it hosts archrival North
Carolina in the Atlantic Coast Conference regular-season finale
for both teams.
Duke (27-2, 14-1), which will drop out of the top spot of the
rankings after its 79-74 loss at Florida State on Wednesday,
already has wrapped up the top seed in the upcoming ACC
tournament.
Despite limiting the Seminoles to 35 percent shooting, the Blue
Devils were outscored, 32-10, at the free-throw line. J.J.
Redick scored 30 points and Shelden Williams added 20, 16
rebounds and four blocks as Duke was denied a perfect conference
record.
The game marks the last home game at Cameron Indoor Stadium for
Redick, the all-time leading scorer in the ACC, as well as
Williams, Sean Dockery and Lee Melchionni.
The Tar Heels (20-6, 13-4) have surprised just about everybody
this season after losing their top six scorers from last
season's NCAA championship squad and are seeking their 10th win
in their last 11 games.
The only setback during the span was an 87-83 home defeat to
then-No. 2 Duke on February 7. Reyshawn Terry paced five
players in double figures with 17 points, but it was not enough
to overcome 35 by Redick.
After routs over North Carolina State and Maryland, North
Carolina dismantled Virginia, 99-54, on Wednesday - its third
consecutive 20-plus point victory. The second seed in the ACC
tournament got five 3-pointers and 26 points from David Noel, 17
points from Terry and 13 and eight rebounds by fabulous
freshman Tyler Hansbrough.
The Tar Heels lead this storied rivalry, 124-96, and they have
beaten a top-ranked team 11 times in school history - more than
any other team in NCAA history. Duke holds a 47-42 edge in
games played in Durham, including eight of their last nine.
Overall, the Blue Devils have won 16 of the last 19.
