Notre Dame (13-10) at No. 4 Connecticut (23-2) 7:00 pm EST
HARTFORD, Connecticut (Ticker) -- With its biggest game of the
season looming, No. 4 Connecticut better be careful not to overlook
a hungry Notre Dame team when the Big East rivals hook up Tuesday.
The Huskies (23-2, 10-2 Big East) fell from the top spot in the
country Monday due to a 69-64 loss to then-No. 4 Villanova on
February 13. While Connecticut has a chance for sweet revenge
when it meets the Wildcats again on Sunday, it first must deal
with an immediate threat.
Notre Dame (13-10, 4-8) had dropped eight of nine before running
off three straight victories, capped by Saturday's 102-91
triumph at Seton Hall. Chris Quinn scored 34 points and Colin
Falls added a career-high 32 to pace the Fighting Irish, who
mounted their highest point total in more than three years.
However, Notre Dame will be hard-pressed to improve upon its 1-5
record against ranked opponents as it faces a UConn squad that
rebounded from its loss to Villanova with an impressive 81-75
victory at then-No. 11 West Virginia on Saturday.
Josh Boone matched a season high with 18 points and sophomore
sensation Rudy Gay added 14 and 12 rebounds for the Huskies, who
shot nearly 58 percent (33-of-57) and held a dominant 39-19
rebounding advantage.
UConn, which is 13-0 at home this season, has won six of the
last eight meetings between the schools.
