*Lakers face another tough challenge when they host Spurs*

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - For the second straight game, the Los
Angeles Lakers will try to topple one of the NBA's juggernauts
when they when they host the San Antonio Spurs on Monday.
The Lakers are coming off of an impressive 105-94 victory here
Saturday against Detroit (48-11), which owns the best record in
the league. The Spurs have the NBA's second-best record.
Kobe Bryant, the NBA's leading scorer, netted 40 points against
the Pistons by making 13-of-26 shots from the floor and sinking
all 13 free throws.
Lamar Odom had one of his best games with Los Angeles as he
collected 24 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and two steals.
San Antonio, which is just a half-game ahead of Dallas for the
top spot in the Southwest Division and Western Conference, has
won six straight games and 15 of its last 17.
Tim Duncan scored 22 points as the Spurs rolled to a 101-81 rout
of Portland on Saturday.
San Antonio won the first and only game against Los Angeles this
season, a 90-84 home triumph on November 29.
