New Jersey (32-28) at New Orleans (31-30) 7:00 pm EST
OKLAHOMA CITY (Ticker) -- If the New Orleans Hornets believe they have legitimate playoff hopes, they had better reverse their recent slide.
The Hornets try to snap a five-game losing streak and post their first win in six meetings against the New Jersey Nets when the teams meet Sunday.
Winless since defeating Portland on February 26, New Orleans is hanging on to eighth place in the Western Conference, one-half game ahead of Sacramento, while trailing the Los Angeles Lakers by one game for seventh.
David West scored 20 points and Kirk Snyder and Desmond Mason added 16 each for the Hornets in Friday's 92-90 loss to the Indiana Pacers.
New Jersey has also struggled recently, losing five of six to delay coach Lawrence Frank in his bid to become the third Nets coach to reach 100 victories.
Despite the slump, New Jersey has a 2 1/2 game over Philadelphia in the Atlantic Division, which would lead to the No. 3 slot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Nenad Krstic scored 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds and Vince Carter added 25 points for the Nets in Tuesday's 95-87 loss to Chicago.
In their earlier encounter February 6, New Jersey used a 19-2 run in the fourth quarter in a 99-91 triumph over New Orleans. Richard Jefferson scored 26 points and Carter had 21 for the Nets.
