I just clicked on ESPN.com and found out that the lakers are close to signing the glove and the mailman.

that would mean Shaq, Kobe, The Glove, The Mailman

I mean payton and malone are getting old but they still got game.

I have always hated the lakers, but now I want them to die in a bus accident.

this is proof that the world as we know it is coming to an end.

the lakers DID sign payton yesterday. I didn't think it was possible that their team could get older, looks like with the addition of the glove and malone they will be the senior citizens team.

Karl Malone is the mailman because he always delivers.

The Lakers use to be in Minnesota, hence the team nickname Lakers.

At first this news was irritating but I'm not suprised after thinking about it.

Nope...the mailman and glove both want a ring and they see LA as their best shot.

It won't work. Too many big egos. See Houston Rockets Mid Nineties. They won't gel together and they will bicker and complain. Kobe and Shaq can barely get along.

This years post season goes to show that money won't always buy a Championship.

Looks like they are trying to become the NBA's version of the Raiders...

I think that was because they didn't have a point guard and barkley was seriously showing his age.

I'm gellin like a felon. Want some melon?

True barkley was showing his age, but so is malone. I'd rate them about equal in all aspects, seeing as they played about the same exact position on their respective teams.

I can't remember who their point guard was, maybe that proves your point.

malone is showing his age, but he hasn't missed nearly as many games as barkley had. barkley was a powerforward, but honestly he was more of a small forward with long arms. he took much more abuse than malone has.

the only thing that hurts the lakers is that with malone and payton the lakers actually get older and slower.

The spurs should forget about signing jason kidd and look for free agent power forward or small forward to keep up with the lakers.

I agree on the spurs. I don't understand their logic. I'd say about every team in the NBA would love to have Tony Parker. He is young, very very good, and only going to get better. That's what you want for a franchise. To throw it away to have Jason Kidd, who Parker had no trouble playing against, for a year or two makes no sense. They won the damn championship, no changes at point are necessary.

agreed, dare I say jason kidd is over rated? and kidd supposedly asking for byron scott to get fired is a joke. I don't care what coach they had in there, nobody was going to beat the spurs this season. Tony parker is the shit, and like you said, he's only going to get better. the spurs need to find another big man to take the place of the Admiral. I'm thinking Bill Wennington should fit the bill.

Not only did the Lakers sign Payton and Malone... but the Nets resigned Kidd and are looking at Alonzo!!! Also, Larry Bird is now the president of the Pacers.

Everyday the chances get slimmer and slimmer for my Celtics :(

Since GP is from tha town (east oakland) I gotta give him luv.

As for Malone, for those of you who dont know b-ball - Malone will get to the line all season long. He will get his bullshit calls like, Jordan, Kobe, Iverson etc. have done in the past. Simply put this means more points for the Lakers.

I think it was a very good choice by the Lakers. 2 seasoned, all-star vets, that wont get into off court trouble and know how to win, more importantly they more hungier than ever 'cause they want that piece of jewlery.

Some one tell me how the Lakers are able to keep all those players under the sallary cap.

THis may be the first time that 4, 1st team all NBA and future hall of famers, are in the starting lineup. It will be very interesting to see how well they do.

Malone and Payton are being signed at the NBA's minimum salary...hench why they're both sellouts...

isn't the minimum salary like 200 grand?

what is wrong with them?

it's the "veterans" minimum, which I think is $1.5 million, it's only a fraction of what they were making...

so they are taking less money, to be on a team that has a better shot of winning a championship. That is pretty much the opposite of a sell out dude.

exactly. wouldn't sell out sign with the clippers for mega millions only to win 20 games?

Word. Little Naytch here knows his shit!

Bottom line is that Payton and Malone are looking at championship rings like crows looking at shiny shit. They've paid the cost, now they just wanna be the boss.

They now have the 2 biggest bully, tough guys on their team. Shaq and Malone, people are going to get hurt.

too bad sir charles can't make a comeback and get a ring w/the lakers. he deserves one IMO.

Amen Bro. I was a die hard suns fan when I was younger, sad he never got one. I cried when they lost the Finals, and when they got knocked out of the playoffs twice by the Rockets.

If Malone wanted the best shot at winning a championship, he would have signed with the Spurs, the fact that he chose the Lakers is why he's a sellout....he's giving up being an all-star for the Jazz for a place where he'll barely make a difference....Kobe and Shaq are the two biggest ball hogs in the NBA and I doubt they will even let Malone touch the ball...there's too many ego's involved and that's going to mean trouble, I doubt they will even make it to the finals this year, much less win it all.....

you're hitting some good points there. With Robinson retired, Malone would have been able to actually be somebody on the Spurs Roster. But San Antonio hates Malone for the elbow that he threw into the back of Robinson's head and knocked him out.

Personally I think he should have stayed in Utah, you people know he's a Mormon, right?

arne't they pissed now that it looks as if the Lakers will be missing Kobe..I'd imagine that Kobe's game is gonna be off with what he has weighing on his mind
