*Pistons seek 50th win against slumping Wizards*

Detroit (49-11) at Washington (30-30) 7:00 pm EST

WASHINGTON (Ticker) -- The Detroit Pistons can become the first
team in the NBA to reach 50 wins when they visit the sliding
Washington Wizards on Saturday.

Owners of the best record in the NBA this season, the Pistons,
who have won 54 games each of the last two seasons, would match
their franchise best of five straight 50-win seasons with a
victory.

Detroit returned home Wednesday from a 2-2 road trip by posting
a 106-101 triumph over Chicago. Chauncey Billups collected 27
points and nine assists to lead the Pistons.

Rasheed Wallace and Richard Hamilton scored 14 points apiece
in the final period. Wallace finished with 25 and Hamilton 24
for Detroit, which averted a second straight loss.

After a 16-6 stretch got them to a season-best four games over
.500 (29-25), the Wizards have lost five of their last six and
are threatening to again fall below the break-even point.

Gilbert Arenas led five Washington players in double figures
with 28 points in a 118-112 loss at Miami on Wednesday. Caron
Butler, Antawn Jamison and Antonio Daniels added 19 apiece for
Washington, which lost for the 11th straight time to the Heat.

The Wizards have not fared much better against the Pistons,
losing eight straight contests here against them. Washington's
last home victory over Detroit came on March 14, 2001.
