*Bryant, Lakers facing tough task as Pistons come to town*
----------------------------------------------------------
Detroit (48-10) at LA Lakers (30-29) 10:30 pm EST
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - The Los Angeles Lakers might try to find
a way to clone Kobe Bryant before Saturday's game against the
Los Angeles Lakers.
The NBA's leading scorer, Bryant scored 40 points - the 16th
time this season he has reached the plateau - on Friday as Los
Angeles rolled to its second win in three games, a 106-94
triumph over the Golden State Warriors.
Despite playing through a sinus infection, Bryant managed to
become the youngest player in league history to score 16,000
career points. He did it at 27 years, 192 days - four days
younger than Wilt Chamberlain in 1964.
However, the Lakers will need another superb outing by Bryant if
they are to beat the Pistons, who have won seven of eight
following Friday's 98-96 win over Seattle.
The star of the game was Richard Hamilton, who scored seven
points in the final 55 seconds, capped by the game-winning
jumper with two-tenths of a second left. Rasheed Wallace scored
21 points with 11 rebounds and Chauncey Billups added 21 and 11
assists as Detroit avoided losing back-to-back games for just
the second time this season.
The Pistons enter with a four-game winning streak in the series
with the Lakers, who have won nine of the last 11 encounters
here.
