*Nuggets visit Wolves in Northwest division battle*
---------------------------------------------------
Denver (29-26) at Minnesota (23-30) 8:00 pm EST
MINNEAPOLIS (Ticker) -- In a divisional matchup on Friday, the
Denver Nuggets look to add to the recent woes of the struggling
Minnesota Timberwolves.
Currently atop the Northwest Division, the Nuggets have won
three of their last four contests and seek to regain the edge in
the season series, which is tied at a game apiece.
The Timberwolves, who have only two wins in their last 10
contests, pulled even with the Nuggets after a 103-89 triumph on
January 13. Garnett scored a season-high 31 points and grabbed
15 rebounds as the hosts took control of the game in the third
quarter.
That victory was part of a three-game winning streak, but since
then Minnesota has not been able to post consecutive wins.
The Wolves fell, 90-78, to the Wizards on Tuesday for their
fifth loss in six contests. Ricky Davis had 25 points and
Garnett added 15 and 11 rebounds but committed a game-high seven
turnovers.
The Nuggets are coming off a 100-84 victory over Charlotte on
Tuesday. Denver held Charlotte to 27 second-half points and had
six players reach double figures. Carmelo Anthony scored 24
points on 10-of-20 shooting to lead all scorers. Andre Miller
handed out a season-best 15 assists and was two rebounds shy of
recording a triple double.
Ruben Patterson, Reggie Evans and Charles Smith, all acquired in
a four-team trade before Thursday's NBA trading deadline, may
see action.
