*Trail Blazers seek revenge for embarrassing loss to Celtics*
-------------------------------------------------------------
Boston (21-33) at Portland (18-35) 10:00 pm EST
PORTLAND, Oregon (Ticker) -- The Portland Trail Blazers were
embarrassed by the Boston Celtics two weeks ago. They get a
chance for revenge Friday.
All-Star Paul Pierce scored 20 of his 35 points in the third
quarter as Boston snapped a six-game losing streak with a
resounding 115-83 victory over Portland on February 10.
It was the most lopsided win of the season for the Celtics, who
got 21 points from Wally Szczerbiak and 18 from Raef LaFrentz.
Boston had failed to reach 100 points in 11 straight games
before shooting 55 percent against Portland, which set a
franchise low with 22 rebounds.
Things are not going much better now for the Trail Blazers, who
have dropped seven of their last eight games following
Wednesday's 110-106 defeat against the Charlotte Bobcats, who
snapped their 12-game road losing streak.
The since-traded Ruben Patterson scored 25 points, Darius Miles
20 and Juan Dixon 17 for Portland, which made just 11-of-17 foul
shots and was outrebounded, 40-32.
On Wednesday Patterson and guard Sergei Monia were traded as
part of a four-team, nine-player deal. Patterson went to the
Denver Nuggets and Monia went to the Sacramento Kings, while the
Blazers acquired guard Voshon Lenard from the Nuggets and
forward Brian Skinner from the Kings.
Boston fell to 1-1 on its four-game road trip with Wednesday's
103-94 setback against the Phoenix Suns. Delonte West scored a
career-high 30 points and Pierce added 20 for the Celtics, who
had won three of their previous four games.
