*Hawks aim to beat Pacers for third time this season*
-----------------------------------------------------

Atlanta (16-36) at Indiana (27-24) 7:00 pm EST

INDIANAPOLIS (Ticker) -- The Indiana Pacers would be better
positioned in the Eastern Conference standings if they could
just find a way to beat the lowly Atlanta Hawks.

The Pacers try to avoid falling to the Hawks for the third time
this season when the teams square off Friday.

Indiana entered the season with seven straight victories in the
series before November 25, when it dropped an 87-85 decision to
Atlanta, which ended its 10-game losing streak here. The Pacers
had a chance for revenge on January 23, but again came up short
against the Hawks, 104-94.

The Pacers have won six of their last seven home games but are
coming off an ugly 88-85 loss in Detroit on Thursday. Stephen
Jackson scored 15 points and Peja Stojakovic added 14 for
Indiana, which shot only 40 percent (32-of-80) and committed 21
turnovers.

Atlanta also is coming off a narrow defeat following Wednesday's
114-109 setback against Seattle. Al Harrington scored 24
points and Joe Johnson added 18 and 11 assists for the Hawks,
who allowed the Sonics to shoot 57 percent in losing for the
fourth time in five games.

The Pacers, who currently sit in the fifth spot in the East,
have not been swept at home by the Hawks since the 1998-99
season.
