i hear of people saying that an average genetic max potential for a 5'8-5'9 guy would a solid 190-230. does that sound right? (do you agree?)

if so, would that be LBM or would that be including say, 10% fat or so?

at 15, my LBM is about 195 at this height and i'm kinda worried that once muscle memory kicks in and i get back to where i was, i won't make many gains at all. but i shouldn't worry, since i'm young, right?

i started lifting at 11 years old. i heard somewhere, not sure if it's true, that if a person lifts in their pre-mid pubescent years, they can change the amount of muscle fibers in their body? sounds lke a load of crap, but interesting..

Jeremys, that all depends on your build, bone structure, etc. I ran across this website that will supposedly predict with great accuracy your maximum drug-free lean bodyweight and measurements. It looks pretty cool, check it out. Let us know what it says; I'd be curious to see what kinda potential you have, being so big to begin with.

Edit: crap, the link doesn't work. Search on google for "maximum+Lean+Body+Mass+calculator" and it'll be the first one to pop up.

fuck limitations, personally i dont pay attention to what i shouldt be able to do, if you do youll never get where you want to be

Whether we choose to accept it or not doesn't stop the fact that we all have a naturally determined maximum genetic body weight (lean that is). Below is a an excellent link that discusses this.

Here is a quick summary of why we have a limit...

We will reach a point in our advanced training (approaching our limit) where in order to make further increases in size and strength it would require workouts that are so extermeley high in volume and/or instensity that our bodies will either become injured or overtrained (recovery periods would be weeks) because our bodies only produce so much testosterone. When the advanced training is introduced as I mentioned above the stress placed on the body causes more harm than good (catabolic as opposed to anabolic). However, if you are to reach your max natural limit you will still be a amazing specimen and what an accomplishment to be able to say that you have taken your body to the absolute limit.

There is no such thing as limitations.

While I like to agree with this in theory, I have to disagree. There are natural limitations. If a person has crap genetics, without steroids, and even with steroids, they will never look like Arnold. That is a limitation. a 5'4 man will never reach 300lbs of lean muscle. NEVER. Even with all the steroids he wants.

It is best to ignore limitations and strive for the impossible irregardless, don't get me wrong. Saying there are no limitations is just fooling yourself though. There are very real physical limitations just as there is very real mental limitations.

Now if some future drug or treatment that can alter genetics comes along... Well that would be different. However it wouldn't be "natural limitations" like the topic of the post is.

One time, I attended a lecture by Roberto Olivardia, co-author and research of the book "Adonis Complex." He did ground-breaking research about Body Dysmorphic Disorder [and i believe he even coined that phrase]. Anyway, in his lecture, he stated that they had come up with some mathematical way of determing how big one could naturally be.

It was a numeric score. Like a natura bber could only get to be like a 25 or something with natural limits. But top pro's like Ronnie are somewhere like a 40 or 45 on that same scale.

He also said that someone like Steve Reeves was as the very high end of natural limit. Well, I can see where he is coming from, but then again, I know some people who are that big and are natural.... as far as I know...

There isn't a categorically set limit for any size. Thats why genetic limitations are genetic(individualistic).

b-fold and I are the same height, but what I have done with my body in many years of lifting with several cycles toward the end, b-fold has surpassed naturally and continues to progress.

The only way to find your genetic potential is to stop believing there is one, and bust your ass to get where you want. You'll eventually run into it, or you may be like b-fold and continue into the realm of monsters naturally. But, if you place some arbitrary number that you expect your growth to stop at, it probably will stop.

Forget about limitations for now. If you need to place one on yourself I'll do it for you.......

After analyzing the pics and stats from the board, I have consulted with a board of genetics experts and evaluated your future potential

You'll stop growing at 345lbs lean. Sorry to tell you bro, but the most you'll ever squat is about 1200, deadlift 800, and bench over 6. You'll just have to accept those low numbers when you get to them:)

:eek2: :FRlol:

Damnit, I wanted to hit 355lbs and bench 700.

Amen on the first paragraph.

So... he should never attempt squatting 1201... he's not genetically capable. :)
