My Progress - Is this possible?

I got measured 3/3/09 @ 29% Body Fat w/Lean Body Mass of 130 lbs
Today I measured at 23% Body Fat w/Lean Body Mass of 135 lbs

I changed my eating habits 6 healthy meals/day instead of the 2 or 3 I was eating before plus I work out 5 times a week. Mostly with weights in the 8-12 rep range.

I am not on any fat burners. The only supplements I take are a multi-vitamin, ZMA and High 5 protein blend from Max Muscle. I was just wondering if this is really possible to lose that much body fat in just over a 1 month period. I mean I feel so much better than I did before I changed my lifestyle.

Thanks

congratulations!

You can make remarkable gains when you are new to eating well and training.

You have lost some body fat, but every method for measuring fat, with the exception of a full body MRI scan or water immersion, has an error, even measuring with calipers.

Which method did you use?

I used a calculator in which I had to input my height (6'2), weight, hip, waist & neck measurements.
I was actually 190 lbs in February. That is when I decided I had to do something. I began working out and changing my eating habits some however I did not start tracking my measurements or weight till March. Then I did my measurements every week first thing in the morning.

You have made good progress. :)

The body measurements are really useful.

If this method is working for you right now to track your progress, stick with it. As long as the numbers are going down it is all good.

My only advice, don't become too relaxed as you have done so well, I know I have gone 'woooooooooo hooooooooooo, lost two kilos this week', then had one too many cheat meals and ended up gaining back the fat plus more.

With training, there may come a point when you start recompositioning your body, losing fat but replacing it with muscle, and you could add inches to your legs or arms.

Then you may want to use a different method to track your progress.

Thanks Tatyana!!!!

I am trying to lose the fat now however my long term goal is to build my muscles. I really want big muscles - biceps, legs, shoulders. I know I can do it I am just @ the beginning of this journey.

Great to hear.

Putting on muscle has been one of the best things I have done fore my body. I highly recommend it. :)

If you do find yourself seeing a slowdown in your progress or fancy a second/third or fourth set of eyes for your diet or training plan, please feel free to post them up.
