Take a pregnancy test for sure. There is a risk that they can fall out in the first year, but it is supposed to be small. Pay attention to the amount you are bleeding. If you are soaking more than one super absorbancy fem napkin or tampon per hour, you need to call the doc right away. When you go to the doc, ask about a condition called uterine prolapse (this is when the uterus is sliding from it's normal position). Not to say that you have it, but I did read that it can be a cause of the IUD to fall out. It is rare, but it may not hurt to ask the doc. Sorry it happened to you, girl, I hear it's painful. I have and IUD, too. No problems so far (knock on wood) and it's been 3 years. Take care.
