My $50 bench-press bet....Can I win it?

Rico

I am currently benching 250 but I bet a buddy 50 bucks that I would have 325 up by August. The key here is that I am about to start a cycle of Sust at 500mg/week for 10 weeks.
What are my chances of adding 75 pounds to my bench with this cycle? It is only my second cycle...my first was Deca/Dbol but not a great one, so I figure this is my first "real" cycle.

I have no idea, but don't fuck up your rotator cuff, ain't worth 50 bucks bro...

Sorry bro, I've been in the lifting business for over 10yrs...not a chance.....maybe only up to about 275-290 tops!!!!!!!! in that amount of time on that cycle!!!:(
And I'd say 500/week of sust only for 10weeks is not a "real" cycle....

I'd say that most likely you won't be able to but it is possible. What are your stats? I went up 45 lbs. from late Oct. to Jan.1 naturally, but I've got a good size build. Just be real carefull w/ that rotator cuff, make sure you always warm up good before going heavy.

With the right gear (halo with something else), it's possible. I wouldn't do it for $50 though.

Sounds like a relatively weak cycle -- and I'm pretty moderate. You might be able to change your benching technique to more of a powerlifting style -- extreme arch, tuck the shoulders blades back and into the bench, lift below the nipples, hold your breath except for the top, feet firmly planted and legs slightly above parallel -- utilize a liftoff. Does your buddy know what a bench shirt is?

Nonthing is impossible... But you should be more realistic when you make a challenge, goals,ect... Like others said above, don't blow out your rotator cup, or tear a muscle, trying to win 50$. I will not say its impossible, b/c that word doesn't exist in my vocabulary, but then again i'm not you, so it might exist in yours. BE SMART USE YOUR HEAD!!! GOOD LUCK!!!

I added 50lbs to my bench naturally in 6 months (300-350).

You can do 75 on gear no problem.

It is possable but that is a lot of weight in a short time. Add some Fina in there and it couldent hurt  Best of luck!

Go to http://www.musclemedia.com and look at that program that says increase 50 pounds on bench in 7 weeks.
I know, I know...its Bill Phillips, but I went through this routine not too long ago and raised my bench about 25 in 6 weeks. Give it a try dude. But, like everyone said, be careful.

I did a 500mg/wk sust...30mg/day d-bol cycle..Week 1 I was benching 275 lbs for one...week 6 315lbs for 3 and 325lbs for one....just to give ya an idea...but 75lbs is an awful lot...Good Luck....be safe!!;)

on his cycle though, there is no way...

MAYBE..if he stacked winny/fina with that

I think some of you guys give more credit to gear than you should...Diet is more important in my opinion.

Here's the way I see it:

A proper diet by itself works.

A proper diet with gear works 10X better than a proper diet with no gear.

A shitty diet with lots of gear works about as good as a proper diet with no gear.

ok get this, i did a real real real light test cycle threw in 2 weeks of winny at the end, right before the winny i could maybe but up 245 once. 2 weeks after the winny(must of kicked the test up a notch) i was(am) hittin 300 for one, its not impossible, it really is all in the mind, if you think you can do it then do it.

If i was you i would make sure you warm up real well on bench day and shoulder day then do set's of (3) with as much as you can handle. Also after that same work out go to smith machine set the safety pins about 5inches off chest and do half reps, you can load the bar up with real big weight you will get the feel of heaver weight with out getting stuck, just do singles with this. While you are on the good stuff push your self and dont let anyone discourage you set your goals and go get it. Good luck.

PAIN IS JUST WEAKNESS LEAVING THE BODY

I wouldn't say it's impossible, although more unlikely if your only motivation for training is to get paid 50 bucks in 3 months... I've gained 50lbs on bench in an 8 week cycle of Primo though, so who knows... Good Luck!:p

Thats well Said..

Thanks for the feedback to everyone that replied. To be honest I really don't give a shit about the 50 bucks and it is definitely not my motivation for training, but I think the bet will just make me push myself that much harder.

It's easier to reach a goal when you have one set! Right now I'm thinking my chances are pretty good..... I have always done my max presses after pullups, rows, etc. so my chest is usually half gone. Soon I think I will switch around the routine to bench first and adopt more of a powerlifting approach.

If you clean up your technique, you may be able to add 30 pounds today. When you get on the bench thrust your hips up and slam your legs as far back towards your shoulders as possible to create an arch, but keep your ass planted on the bench. Then pin your shoulder blades together and hold them tight. This reduces your range of motion and makes a stable base, while protecting the shoulder. Take a grip with the ring or middle finger on the grip marker. Bring the bar down to the base of the chest (sternum) and go straight up. Don't do that "J" shit like some people say. This should add some weight right away. The rest you'll have to do the hard way.:D

I have a quesiton about the whole rotator cuff thing. I was benching last week, heavier weights than usually and my shoulder popped. I am no in pain except when I bench. I have full movement of my arm and I can do almost all excersises no problem except bench press. Anyone experience this before, or any ideas on how to heal?

WHAT IS YOUR WORKOUT LIKE...I DID A EAS BENCH PRESS REGIMEN AND IT PUT ON FIFTY POUNDS IN A MATTER OF SEVEN WEEKS. THIS WAS FIVE YEARS AGO AND I REMEMBER I WAS THROWING UP 275 FOR ONE REP AT THE BEGINNING AND 330 FOR ONE REP AT THE END. IT CONSISTED OF A LOT OF NEGATIVES AND REPITITIONS AROUND FIVE. cHECK THEEIR SITE IT MIGHT STILL BE AVAILABLE IF YOU TRY EMAILING THEM...

Mike001..YOUR wrong as hell...don't even try to flame on me kid.....it can be done if you weigh 230+ starting out and just needed the gear to give your pussy ass a kick, but someone under 200lbs would have a problem!!!!!

I went from 330 to 396 in six weeks with 250 mg sustenon a week. I would say it is possible, but that would be up to your genetics.
