Morning pre-workout food

Backlash

My last few workouts I have totally run out of gas about 2/3 of the way through. I'm sure it's b/c of lack of fuel. Here's my situation:

I workout in the morning before work b/c that's really the only time I can schedule it. I get up really early (about 5:40 or so) in order to have enough time to workout, come home, shower, eat, etc and make it to work on time.

So I can't eat a decent-size meal an hour 15 minutes before I workout like most of you do. I don't really eat anything before I workout cause I can't workout on a full stomach (just a handful of frosted wheat cereal usually).

What can I eat (quickly) about 20 mins before I workout that will hold me through the workout (energy-wise) without screwing up my workout? I'm talking about real food or drinks, not a caffeine shot like Mountain Dew or ephedra or anything like that.

For over a year, I trained at 6:30 AM. I woke up at 4 or 4:30, had a bowl of oats, and went back to bed. When I woke up a couple hours later to train, I was ready to rock. After a while, I don't think I even woke up to eat, I just kind of did it in my sleep.

if i workout in ther morning due to daily activites i wake up early eat 4 slices wheat bread 2 tbsp pb 2 tbsp jelly, 4 eggs 1 whole 3 white its kept me going!! then went back to bed!

I would go for an MRP or some other liquid source of protein and carbs. It will digest quickly and will not sit heavy in your stomach.

I often workout first thing in the morning with nothing but a glass of milk. I don't have any problems running out of steam. In fact I prefer working out first thing in the morning.

Well, it wasn't a problem for me until I started doing this HST prep. Maybe it's just b/c I'm getting over being sick AND trying to find my 15, 10, and 5 RM this week.

Perhaps I'll start out drinking a glass of milk in the morning, and if that's not enough I'll try waking up and going back to sleep. I do have a hard time getting back to sleep after waking up though.

I would try downing an N-large2 shake made with water. Its packed full of carbs and protien and digests extremely fast if made with water.

I drink it pre and post workout. If I drink it any other time, say in the morning (I work out in the afternoon) it gives me hot flashes LOL

oats and eggs every morning. and i drink powerade or gatorade during my workout to keep some simple carbs around.

I usually take one with milk post-workout. Also ion mornings after breakfast on off days.

I am actually one of the few people here who actually uses a full meal as a pre workout prep... Even on Saturdays, when I hit it in the morning, I get up early so I can eat at least once and usually twice before....
Most of the people here seem to hit something you can chug pretty quick like mentioned above or maybe a protein shake with oats an hour or so before and NOT a full meal....
