shirlene29

I am BATMAN!

so, I have pcos and Im goin for a mirena iud next week

I know Ive seen other mirena threads in here but anyone in here with pcos and mirena?

Im also goin on an almost no carb very low cal dr prescribed diet in a cpl of weeks in an attempt to get my blood sugar under control w/o the use of glucophage, so Im wonderin if this might ofset any potential pcos symptoms

anyone with a mirena?? tell me your experience pls :)

Is this your first IUD? I don't have any experience with pcos, but I love my IUD. I have the non hormonal one though. It is so nice to not have to worry about the pill. I don't worry about pregnancy as much. Oh and my periods are soooo much better. I used to have such heavy period that would last 6-7 days. I now have only 3-4 day periods and they are pretty light too. My friend has the Mirena and she says she doesn't have a period at all or just a day or two of spotting.

yeah, this is my first iud, i have no idea what to expect!

yeah, Im actually going to cal my dr and ask if i can get a cpl days percs

I was told it was worse for women that didnt already have kids...the insertion
Im hoping it isnt as bad cuz i have kids already

you have the non hormonal one and your periods are lighter?
the drs office just talked me into the hormonal one because they said periods would get worse with the non hormonal one....

hmmm
maybe I'll give the regular one a shot

I have kids and it didn't hurt any less for me. LOL. Yes, mine is non hormonal and my period are soooo much better. I think the IUD is much like the shot, etc where some women have HORRIBLE experiences with it while others think it is the best thing in the world. You know what I mean? I was worried too about mine because doctor said some bleed longer and heavier, etc. I have not had that problem at all myself. Everyone is different. I cannot stand being on hormones so I was happy with my choice. I hope I have helped. :)

you have lots, i dont have long periods anyway and i initially really wanted the non hormonal one...

dunno, they seemed almost, like there was disapproval for the non hormonal one

what I think is weird is i never had a prob with the pill before my youngest was concieved
now I cant tolerate any of em
Ive been through four diff brands in the last two yrs
Im sick of it!
and depo/ the shot wasa fricken disaster for me
the nursepractitioner said that depo was a nitemare for her but she has the mirena now and she loves it, no sides...they have the same hormone so i dont know what to think

but you have me reconsidering the non hormonal one , so thank you :)

I would give the non hormonal a try. You can read up more reviews on it, but I am really pleased. I hate to see people go through shitty things that could be avoided. If it was even a little bad I would be the first to say STAY AWAY. I am sure your periods will be either normal or much much better. It should not be a nightmare.

so, I have appointment on wed for the paragard.....we'll see how it goes!
