Vets: What's your take on this stuff?

I usually stick to WHOLE wheat only, had a sandwich at my chicks house today with this stuff and it tasted soo damn good. ANy guesses at how the GI compares to normal stone ground wheat flour bread?

We just had a huge debate over this and are still looking into it...most say whole wheat bread is junk.....just fake white bread.......does it have hydrgenated fat?

no no no, some wheat breads are actually made with white flour, some are made with WHOLE WHEAT flour. Read the ingredients adn it's easy to tell, as for my original question... Anyone know how MILTONS MULTI GRAIN bread works out on the GI? I'm aware multigrain is usually a high fiber selling point and not necessarily an indicator of low gi.

Multi grain is usually very close on the gi/ and digestion scale as white bread, and contains less fiber - this is not universally true for all multi grain but for most.

thx, x ... anyone know the bread I'm talking about? Sold at costo, trader joe's, and most grocery stores.

prob with baked goods is hidden sugars
multi grain is most times white bread with grains and seeds added
most times the grains are not processed enought to give any real benefits
sprouted multi grain bread is better
sprouting actually diminishes the starch stores of the grain (as nature intended)
buy your breads from reliable sources
if you must have bread
i have made my own bread with brown rice flour and xanthan gum when i was gluten free but the GI is still fairly high
most processed grains will be

There is some German made bread that we can find at some stores in TX. It is like "old world" bread. Back when bread was good for you and the cornerstone of a European's diet. It is dark brown, almost black in color, almost as dark as pumpernickel. It is made by Mestemacher. It is all whole grains. I do NOT eat breads, but I will eat this stuff in moderation. Here is the ingredient listing: Whole kernel rye, water, wholemeal rye, wholemeal wheat, oat kernels, linseed, salt, sesame, yeast.
That's it, no preservatives, sugars, etc.
