Milk Bloating

This is just a quick question.

I normally drink heaps of milk (1-2 litres of skim milk per day).

Many people on the forum claim that either milk (a) makes them look fatter because it bloats them, or (b) that it is fattening (never understood the latter, because milk is very low GI, and lower than oats, sweet potatoes, and many other supposedly superior sources of carbs).

If I was to give up milk to see whether milk indeed made me look "puffier" or "bloated", how long would it take for the bloating effect to disappear?
 
cut out salt + milk, while increasing water intake probably under 24 hours.

I can get rid of a milk bloat pretty quick, but im guessing it would vary from person to person and also depending on what foods are being eaten
 
Milk is very low GI? Can somebody clarify this? 11 grams of sugar per 8oz. serving. I can't see that being lower GI than oats or brown rice.
 
its very low gi, I believe somewhere in the low 30s - with oats being in the 40s

it doesn't matter, though. oats > milk
 
Why is oats > (skim) milk?

Milk has the best combination of protein (caisin & whey) from natural food, and has slow release energy.

Oats GI is lowered somewhat by being somewhat high in fat, and this is of the inflamatory omega 6 kind.

Are there any studies suggesting that carbs from milk are more fattening than the more quickly absorbed oat carbs
