Mercury in Albacore Tuna?

uamaverick

New member
According to widespread studies, it is not safe to eat even one can of albacore tuna due to high mercury levels. Apparently some women died eating too much tuna. Canned tuna and canned salmon (which is perfectly fine) is an important part of my protein intake. I usually eat one can (6.5 oz) as my final meal before bed. Should I stop doing this before I die or is this hype about mercury content in tuna your typical "science" study--convoluted and full of scare tactics to push an agenda?

I read an article in the NEW YORK TIMES stating that the studies which have been conducted have been grossly overstated. The real dangers are for pregnant and lactating mothers who breast feed as mercury MAY be detrimental to a newborns development. There is mercury in all fish but how dangerous it is I DONT know. THIS STATEMENT IS JUST SOMETHING I READ AND I REALLY DONT KNOW SHIT. MAYBE SOME DOCTOR ON THIS BOARD CAN CHIME IN.

It has been seen that to much mercury can hinder brain focus, but only in certain subjects during testing. The tuna hype is mostly concentrated in pregnant or nursing women. "This myth has been widely circulated by environmental groups pressing for stringent mercury emission standards for coal-burning power plants. " Keep eating lots bro, its ggrrrrrrreat for u
