Low Test - Depo Testosterone

Hi,

Recently I went to the Dr and insisted he test my testosterone levels. My count came back at 199, pretty damn low. So he put me on 100mg of Depo Testosterone once a month. From my research I think this is a bit low dose but I expect him to increase it after 3 months when he tests my blood again.

So the reason I insisted on him testing me is I've been working out doing Crossfit and Power Lifting for the last year and have had a hard time both putting on muscle and losing weight. (And yes I know power lifting is not really good for losing weight, but I enjoy doing it.) I'm 6'2" weigh 360 lbs down from my high point of 387. The problem is I've increased my work outs dramatically and dramatically improved my diet, the weight should be flying off but its not.

So my question here is will Depo Testosterone help me lose weight, and or add muscle? What should I expect? How far should I try to push my Dr for higher doses?

A side note, I'm exceptionally healthy other than being over weight. Good Cholesterol, blood pressure, insulin is normal, no thyroid issues. Just low test. Also so far I have noticed since receiving my first 100mg shot that my appetite has changed, seemingly for the better. I crave better foods, and looking at certain foods just makes me feel sick.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,

BW

since you are overweight and out of shape that is gonna hurt your test levels.. your doc should have recommended you fix your diet. you say you have eaten well for the past year. well since your thyroid checks out well there is no reason why you should be 100+ pounds overweight, your diet still needs work. you need to sacrifice some strength in exchange to upping your cardio and putting down the heavy weights .. OR speed up your workouts and drop the weights so you keep your heart rate up and you break a sweat during your workouts.

doing 5 sets of heavy weight 5 minutes in between sets and then going home you are i'm sure strong at that size but you aren't gonna build up any conditioning or keep your heart rate up

did he explain to you that you could be on test for the rest of your life? whats your plan to come off? not a fan of HRT unless you have exhausted all remedies first. i bet if you got into shape your test levels would go way higher
