i need advise on dropping weight (8-10lbs). right now i'm 230 and want to enter the 220 class..will i also lose strenght..is this to much weight to drop..thank you for your advise.

i did a lot of carb/protein cycling and lost 12lbs and hardly lost any strength. i also did light walking on a incline treadmill.

8-10 lbs shouldn't be to hard. I am also around 227 and compete in the 220's. There are a few ways. I usually just drop my water intake on wednsday by a lot and then on thursday i do a hot tub 15 min pool 5 min cycle 2 or three times which will drop me a few lbs and the same thing on friday only sipping on water until i'm at 220. I will take a laxative on Thursday night if i have to but not usually necassary. I weigh in Friday night and gain it all back by the time i get back home after weighing in usually. And lift on saturday. Don't forget to drink a lot of gatorade/electrolytes and re carb after doing this.

Another way is to trick your body into pissing out all its water. I'm not sure if i got this right but i think it goes like this.
tues drink 2 gallons of water ( yes that is a lot and you will piss all day long)
Wed. 1gallon of water
thur. just a glass or two 16oz.
friday. none. weigh in that night.
I have heard of guys dropping 10lbs easy doing it like that but have not tried it myself.

Just some ideas.

I just went from 192 to 181 in about 3 weeks, by tightening up my carb rotation. I gave myself about 12 weeks to do it, so I'd lose slow, but alot of it was water from excess carb intake, so it just fell off. I'm shooting for 175, and I know the last 5-6 will be slower, but I've got a few months to do it. 8 weeks is doable, if you're smart about it.

I wrestled in high school and cutting weight was a big part for alot of my fellow wrestlers. You will see people do wild things to make a weight class. Main thing not to do it try to loose too much weight too quickly. That will kill your stregnth. You can try adding some cardio into the equation. You will burn some fat that way. Water weight will be the eaisest and fastest way to loose it. We wrestled in a 90 degree room so working up a good sweat wasn't a problem. It sucks but you loose it fast. It was nothing for a guy your size to loose 10 to 15 pounds in about 2 hours. At your size it shouldn't he hard to drop that weight. Saunas are a great way to sweat too. Don't have do do anything, just sit there!!!
