Hello everyone, it's been awhile. I've been away due to certain circumstances which had arisen over the past month or so. It's a long story, so I'd rather not explain right now. Now, I've been out of comission for a bit so I'm letting myself recover a bit and want to do this routine (stay away from weights for a li'l while, part of the story) http://navyseal.s5.com/workouts.html
It's the Navy SEAL routine, I'm sure many of you have seen or heard of it. Now, I have a question about it. Look at first, Catergory I PT Training. It says, in a note at the bottom of that section:
Note: For best results, alternate exercise. Do a set of push-ups, then a set of sit-ups, followed by a set of pull-ups. Do not rest between sets.
Now, this suggests doing push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, then repeating without break, because the rest time when working the other muscle groups was enough (since it's geared towards endurance).
Okay, first off that's brutal enough, considering you don't get a chance to breathe. I'm wondering if there's supposed to be a break, or should there be? Not that it's impossible, but it is tough on the lungs as well.
Which brings me to Catergory II. Notice, it adds in Dips. Now, correct me if I'm wrong (which I'm not) but both push-ups and dips work the chest and triceps. If you're supposed to follow the same principles as Catergory I (which you are, according to that same footnote at the bottom) then it's saying to do the exercises in a circuit: push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, dips, repeat. But when you repeat, you're once more working the triceps/chest, after just having done dips.
Now, is that wrong? Should there be a period of rest? Or is that really what they mean? I might be skeptical, but wouldn't working the triceps/chest entail some period of rest before doing them AGAIN?
Long post, I know, sorry. Would like a quick anwser, if possible. Just gotta figure this out, because those of you who know me know that I let the slightest detail get to me. Though, in this case, I think this slight detail is pretty important.
